Preseason Southern Tier: Top Performers
March 6, 2020
Our 2020 Preseason All-State - Southern Tier event took place on Friday Feb 14th down in Vestal, NY at 434 Sportsplex. Let's take a look back at who caught our eye along with the top statistical performers.
Top Performers
Jack Hopko 1B / OF / Maine-Endwell, NY / 2022An athletic 6-foot, 185 pound frame who swung the bat exceptionally well with a 99mph on exit velo. Consistent line drives with gap to gap power and hard contact. The first baseman shows good footwork around the bag with good, loose arm action reaching 81mph across the diamond.
|
Aidan Chamberlin RHP / OF / Corning Painted-Post, NY / 2022One of the better all-around batting practices of the day; very repeatable swing and constantly found barrel. He was able to notch a 93mph on the exit velocity, but his bat wasn't the only standout attribute he had. Aidan was able to hold the top spot in OF Velocity with an 87mph, long arm action able to create good backspin that carried the ball.
|
Owen Stewart RHP / C / Elmira Notre Dame, NY / 2022Almost a full year later, Owen has grown in height and added some good pounds with it. Although, there is room to fill out a little more, he showed out behind the dish during the catcher workout. His fast twitch arm got him a 1.99-2.03 pop time range with a 74mph velo behind it. The 2022 graduate has only progressed in his stats, event after event he has got better and is someone to keep following going forward.
|
Bradyn Coletta LHP / OF / Addison , NY / 2021The 2021 LHP/OF didn't hold back in his first event. With good mechanics, a strong arm, and having good carry on the ball, he was able to be one of the top velocities from the OF throwing 85mph. On the mound, his FB was a little elevated but, he showed a repeatable arm slot even when mixing in his offspeed. Good feel for his secondary pitches low in the zone.
