Scouting Report on Walker:
Ryan Walker MIF/OF (Corning HS, NY 2015)
Walker stands 5-foot-11 165-pounds with an athletic lean build. At the plate he has a balanced setup with a long stride before the swing. His bat path is pretty level through the strike zone and generates good bat speed at 86 off a tee. His finish is high and balanced. In the OF he fields the ball clean with a very quick transfer and release from a mid 3/4 slot at 79 mph. From the INF he uses nice baseball actions, getting around the ball and moving this feet toward his target and gets through his throws. He runs a 7.1 60 yard dash.
Analysis:
Walker is a hard noised kid that plays the game hard. In fact that type of grit cost Walker 4 weeks this summer after he ran face first into a teammate chasing a ball down. The injury broke three bones in his face which required surgery. He's a tough kid and made his debut back on the field with us July 1st. Colleges in attendance love his athleticism, he runs a 7.1 60 but plays the game much quicker. His arm has shown stints of next level carry, and his hands are fast enough to make adjustments. His bat speed was 86 mph with a wood bat off a tee and he keeps his hands close to his body very well. Ryan has been invited to our NYS Top Prospect Games Aug 16th at St. Bonaventure University. We are excited to see him back in action then.
