Player Spotlight: 2020 3B/RHP Kevin Bowrosen (Miller Place HS)
May 9, 2018
Our "Player Spotlights" will be reserved for any prospect across New York who's abilities on the field have made some noteworthy recent buzz. Possibly a recent event where a Top Performer Spotlight article is just not enough, or maybe a recent commitment to a major program. Whatever it is, I'll (Dan Cevette) be going in-depth on the player spotlighted below with personal insight and honest feedback. Let's get started.
Kevin Bowrosen 3B / OF / Miller Place, NY / 2020Rankings StateRank: 15 / POS: 2
CEVETTE'S QUICK HIT: Loose left hand approach in the box, fluid bat-speed with athleticism down the line. He's relaxed but aggressive in the box. The glove is sound and the arm is strong. Impressed me on the mound in FEB. sitting in the mid-80's (86 peak) with minimal effort. Still a dual guy for me at this point. SCOUTING REPORT: Offensively: he is rhythmic hitter that gets the barrel on the ball consistently. He has exceptional hand-eye coordination which makes him a difficult out. As he puts on more mass, his line drives may develop into home runs. Defensively, he is well above-average. He has soft hands, athletic movements with his feet and a strong, accurate arm that was clocked at 87 MPH across the infield. Pitching: he touched 86 MPH, sat 84-85 MPH with his max-effort delivery, clean arm-action. He showed a 67 MPH curve and had great feel/command. He is definitely a two-way prospect but with his advanced defensive skills, I think that part of his game that impresses the most. |
