Team New York will be making their way down to Lakepoint Sports in Emerson, GA for the Prep Baseball Report Future Games on July 31-August 4. We take a look at who will be anchoring down the corner infield positions that will represent the Empire State.

First Base

Note: 2022 Adonys Guzman (The Brunswick School), mentioned in the catcher's preview, will also see time at 3B.

Ryan Birchard 1B / RHP / Auburn , NY / 2021 Physical build for the LHH at 6-foot-0 185 pounds who can find both gaps. Moves well around the bag and has plenty of arm strength as evidenced by his ability to get it up to the upper 80's on the mound.

 

Xander Burch LHP / 1B / Thomas A. Edison, NY / 2021 Lean, athletic build at 6-foot-0 160 pounds with an easy effort swing path that has natural lift; extremely athletic around the bag with a pep in his step. Like his counterpart Bichard, Burch will also have the arm strength with a FB that reaches the mid 80's. Both 1B will see time on the mound.

Third Base

 

 

Chance Checca 3B/OF / Ballston Spa, NY / 2021 Checca provides above average athleticism at the corner and is also a suitable OF with his 6.78 60 time. The RHH put on a display in Ballston Spa's posteason run along with his offensive efforts at the NYS Games. At 6-foot-0 190 pounds Checca could profile either at 3B or a corner OF spot.

 

 

Michael Mancini Utility INF / Maine-Endwell, NY / 2022 Much like Checca, 3B is not Mancini's primary position but a spot he can certainly handle. He will see time all-around the INF while in Georgia. The LHH has a high contact approach and is a tremendous athlete that has shown a quick release and accurate arm across the diamond. No stranger to the big stage as he was one of the core members of the Maine-Endwell Little League team that took home the title in Williamsport in 2016.
