On Deck Preview: Preseason All State-Central
January 2, 2021
From now until mid February we will be highlighting players that will be back in front of our our eyes this preseason. Today we take a look at:
Joseph Karpierz SS / 2B / Shaker , NY / 2022Rankings StateRank: 99 / POS: 16
What we’d like to see: As a middle infielder there are a lot of aspects that an athlete must improve on throughout their career. For Joseph, one part of his game that may be keeping him out of the spotlight is his foot speed. Though he has been seen running a 7.06 60 yard, for a player his size and at his position, coaches like a little bit more foot speed. The ability to improve in this area is definitely obtainable as he advances throughout his career. There is so much upside to his game that it is hard not to like this exceptional athlete.

Brody Keneston C / 1B / Ballston Spa, NY / 2022Rankings StateRank: 80 / POS: 9
What we’d like to see: As a catcher your responsibility is defense first and offense second. Brody is sufficient behind the plate but there is still room for growth. Athletes with larger frames, such as Brody, must work consciously to be as simple and efficient as possible with their movements. Another area that can always improve is arm strength... If he can increase this, he will help his throwing times improve drastically. Overall, Brody is off to a great start and will continue to improve over time.

Carter King C / SS / Cicero North Syracuse, NY / 2024Rankings StateRank: 39 / POS: 8
What we’d like to see: Trying to master two of the most important positions on the field is very difficult and very few have the ability to do it. Just having the ability to be sufficient at catcher and shortstop is a testament to Carter's versatility. The two positions feed off of one another when it comes to having soft and quick hands and also lateral mobility. The more gloves you have in your bag, the better chance you’ll have of finding yourself in the lineup. For Carter he should keep on working to hone in and refine his skills at both positions.
