NYS Games On Deck Preview: 2024 MIF/RHP Andrew Gabriel (Columbia)

One of the top MIF in the state, shows his athleticism in all expects of the game. In the box, he shows controlled aggression in his swing demonstrating the ability to continuously find barrels. This not only shows in a showcase setting, where he stood out in our 2023 Preseason ID: Capital Region Event, but also on the diamond this spring. He is hitting an impressive .500 through 10 games.  The 6BB/4K ratio shows the mature approach he brings when he steps in the box.

Up the middle, Andrew has a quick first step paired with a clean transfer getting the ball out on time. This sets him up to be an advanced defender. Working around the ball getting into a proper position to make the "hard" plays seem easy.

During our preseason event he showed well on the mound. Sitting 84-86 T87, generating a lower spin fastball that shows late life with arm side run. Flashed a CB that has slurve like action with depth. His CH was impressive by killing spin, has late depth that pairs well off the fastball. Averaging just 5.9" of vertical break with 19.2" of horizontal movement.
