In New York's 2017 class we have seen 12 players from events run south of a 7-flat 60-yard dash. One of those 12 prospects is already verbally committed to play baseball at the D1 level. Simply put, foot-speed is an important ingredient for success at the next-level.
Offensively - stealing bases, extra-base hits, making defenses uncomfortable, changing the tempo of the game, are all benefits of a speedy prospect. Defensively - speed covers ground and the more ground your defense can cover the more outs they will record.
