June 4, 2016
By Dan Cevette and Nathan Rode
The 2016 Major League Draft takes place June 9-11. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.
After having a first-round pick in 2015, New York’s high school crop was back in the spotlight for 2016. RHP Ian Anderson (Shenendehowa HS, NY) has been near the top of the class for a while and LHP Jeff Belge (Henninger HS, NY) made a strong return after a poor summer. New York hasn’t had high school prospects picked in the first round in back-to-back years since LHP Steve Karsay and OF Manny Ramirez were popped in 1990-1991.
7. Ian Anderson, RHP, Shenendehowa HS, NY
Anderson stands at 6-foot-3, 175 pounds with a lanky frame scouts can dream on. He delivers a premium fastball that that sits in the low 90s, touching 95-96 mph.
