Scouting Report
7/06/20
Physical: Lean and athletic, 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame with plenty of length in the movements in all phases. 7.28 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH. Tall, slightly open stance with slight bend in the knees as the hands started low at the shoulder with minor rhythm pre load. Utilized a knee-knock stride to initiate a whippy, flat barrel path with lift after contact. Long levers stayed inside the baseball allowing for violence and hard contact at the front of the plate. Swing works in game action as well with tight turns to the hitting window, thrives when hitting the baseball pitched out over the plate as the arms get to extension very well. Hit into a stiff front side creating plenty of backspin to either gap, registered a max of 89 mph bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball.
Defensively: The primary shortstop featured downhill, active footwork repeatedly arriving to the baseball on time and fielding off of the left foot getting momentum towards the target. Demonstrated choppy, lengthy actions to either side while showcasing range on balls hit to the glove hand. A short arm circle out of a high ¾ slot worked accurately across the diamond while getting long out in front. SS - 79 mph
Pitching: RHP - High tempo in the delivery as he likes to get the ball and go, sits into a strong backside after a high leg lift at the top of the stack, long high ¾ arm slot with good extension. Fastball was commanded at 78-81 mph with a max of 2225 spin per Trackman Baseball, appearing harder at the dish for hitters. Countered with a 62-65 mph CB with 11/5 shape and adequate spin at 1866 RPM. Featured a different shaped 73-75 mph SL thrown harder with short horizontal bite to it. Dropped in an occasional 70-71 mph CH with low spin, but needs increased intent to create more deception.
2/19/20
Physical: 5-foot-9, 146-pounds. Lean, athletic build; 4.73 home-to-1B. Offensively: RHH. Upright stance with some bend in the knees, hands start low and work back on load along with a medium leg kick for timing Hands are very quick through the zone, barrel is direct to the ball and works uphill on finish, plenty of extension and good use of lower half. Hard contact to pull-side. 81 MPH raw exit velocity. Defensively: Starts low and shows his glove early, active footwork on approach, fields the ball out in front in the middle of his body. Short arm swing with a low 3/4 arm slot. INF - 75 MPH. Pitching: Up tempo delivery with high leg lift before getting into back leg as stride out in line to a repeatable, balanced follow through. Long, twitchy arm action, 3/4 release. FB: T78, 76-78 MPH. Commands with arm side tail. CB: 61-63 MPH. 12-6 break with depth. CH: 69-70 MPH. Maintains hand speed, fades down late.
