Class of 2023 Inside the Rankings - Up Next

Each week leading up to the new year, we will be rolling out “Inside the Rankings” articles to further highlight the movement around the ‘23 class in NY and PA. This week’s focus shifts the scope to the top uncommitted middle infielders, players that have garnered heavy interest over the past year and should be off the board sooner rather than later.
2023 SS/RHP Cooper rossano (williamsville east)
The Spin: Compact and twitchy at 5-foot-8, 165lbs, Rossano has found multiple avenues to impact the game, both as a position player and on the mound. The swift-moving leadoff hitter (RHH) should be able to handle a top of the order role, using his quickness to create pressure on opposing defenses. Though smaller in stature, Rossano generates sneaky pop with a strong track-record of in-game success, dating back to a big high school season (21 games, 34RBI, 15XBH, .358/.482/.716 line). The shortstop sets the boundary well on defense with above-average feel, allowing plus athleticism to take over with downhill tilt and an 88 mph infield velocity. Additionally, the righty has a chance to shine on the bump with easy separation and dynamic arm-speed down the slope. The FB has registered up to T87 mph at 2327rpms for swing/miss up in the zone, paired with a downer breaking ball in the upper 60’s.
The Performance: 6/30/2021, NY State Games | Posted personal bests of a 90 mph bat-exit velocity and 73 mph bat-speed. Made noticeable improvements offensively over the past year with additional rotational strength in the swing, earning him an eventual spot to play for Team NY in the PBR Future Games.
