Inside the Northeast Procase: 2022 RHP Gavin VanKempen (Maple Hill/West Virginia commit)

VanKempen is no stranger to the PBR system having attended three events since 2020. The long limbed, 6-foot-6, 220-pound righty has made significant gains over that two year stretch. The current West Virginia commit is nationally ranked the No. 292 player in the 2022 class and No. 4 in New York. 

VanKempen uses a compact repeatable delivery with an average pace. High knee lift, hands break as the knee drops with a medium length back-swing. Shoulders have vertical tilt, fluid arm-action with a power 3/4 slot release. FB peaked 94 mph with low spin (1800 rpms). FB has natural arm-side fade and explodes late in the strike zone. He shows the ability to spin a tight breaking ball that has 10/5 shape and sits in the upper 70's. I'm fired up to see him at the Northeast Procase where he has the chance to raise his stock for the up-coming 2022 amateur player draft.
