Improve My Profile Scout Blog
June 21, 2019
For the second year several players across the Empire State and beyond have taken advantage of the Improve My Profile offered by Prep Baseball Report-New York. Let's take a look at who was getting it down this past spring.
Scouting Report
Spring 2019
Wiry, athletic frame for the 6-foot-1 175 pound RHP/1B. Offensively- Balanced setup; creates separation with loading of the hands; explodes the bat through the zone showing some easy lift to the left-center gap. Pitching- Athletic delivery with mid-chest leg drive. Hands separate at the belt with and extended arm swing; standard 3/4 arm slot with some whip through his release. Actions and frame will support additional velocity; flashed a sweeping slider/surve that can be an above average offering at times.
Scouting Report
McIntyre features a lean, athletic frame with athleticism; plenty of room for additional physical gains. Offensively- Balanced setup with quiet pre-pitch actions; lower half is involved with short, compact swing. Showed plenty of plate coverage and the ability to use all fields. Line drive approach that will carry some power down the road. Defensively- Quick, exchange on groundballs with accurate arm. More of a 2B approach with his footwork into the ball and with his throwing, but has an internal clock with no panic that allows him to make the plays.
Scouting Report
Solid frame at 6-foot-3 205 pounds that will hold additional strength. Offensively- Spread stance with a slight lean at the belt; quiet pre-pitch actions. Has always shown pull side power but swing has become more compact and is starting to work both gaps with an approach that will hit for average. Pitching- Repeatable delivery; long arm action from a 3/4 to high 3/4 slot. Fastball has shown life carrying through the zone in the mid 80's this spring. CB has tightened up and is thrown for strikes and expanded. Change up is serviceable and will continue to get better with experience.

Scouting Report
Spring 2019
Shaw has an average build at 6-foot-1 180 pounds; plenty of time for the 2022 grad to shape his frame into a more physical build. Offensively- Balanced setup with separation of the hands from the body during his load; slight to-tap at times with stride. Demonstrated the ability to use all fields with some developing pop. Defensively- Steady defender; makes the routine plays with no panic. Knows his runners and is accurate with his throws. Adequate 3B arm for now with plenty of time to increase arm strength. Pitching- Moderate leg lift; long arm action from a 3/4 to low 3/4 slot. FB plays up in the zone and he showed a lateral action breaking ball that is developing. Repeats delivery; solid foundation that will support velocity gains.
