We continued on with our coverage of the Champions Events tournaments this fall with the Columbus Day Battle held this past weekend in Schenectady.
Chris Sleeper RHP / 3B / Rush Henrietta, NY / 2021Physical 6-foot-1 190 pounds RHP/SS. FB in the mid 80s. Strong build and smooth delivery with low effort. Showed command of a tight CB that had swing-and-miss results. West Virginia University commit.

Brandon Biggane C / RHP / Columbia, NY / 2021Catcher and 3-sport athlete with a large, strong frame. 2.1-2 pop time with ability to improve. Solid receiver who is athletic and agile behind the plate with a compact swing and willingness to use the whole field.

Trey Mariano RHP / Shaker, NY / 2021RHH and 3B with lean 6-foot-5 frame with room to fill out. Also plays basketball. Uses long levers to generate power. Balanced at the plate with bat path that is long through the zone. Pull-side power.

TJ Strevell OF / RHP / Columbia, NY / 2021Lean CF with some pop and stand out foot speed. Two sport athlete with a compact swing from the right side.

Joel Hayner SS / RHP / Homeschool, NY / 2021Lean athletic build with room to fill out. Features a 3/4 arm slot that generates quality ASR and shows the ability to work both sides of the plate. His go to pitch is his above average 10/5 CB that has depth and late action. FB 78-79; CB 65-67.

Ryan McIntyre SS / 2B / Mamaroneck , NY / 2021Well put together build with athleticism. McIntyre exhibits a balanced stance in the box along with a swing that enables him to get on plane with pitches in all locations. While he shows the ability to go the other way, he exhibits consistent line drives with power to the LCF gap. He is an above average runner and shows good instincts on the bases taking the extra base when able. Defensively he exhibits range in the hole and the arm to make a strong throw across the diamond.

Anthony Foglia 1B / LHP / North Salem , NY / 2021At 6-foot-3 225 pounds Foglia exhibits the ability to be a left handed power bat. He has athleticism for his big frame and shows the ability to use that both in the box and in the field. He has pull side pop, and looks to get extended and drive the ball. In the field he moves well and has good hands at first. If he continues to get stronger he projects as a middle of the order bat with extra base potential.

Patrick McGuire OF / LHP / Shenendehowa, NY / 2020A true two way player with pure athleticism. Long and lean with plenty of room to fill out. In the box McGuire has a slight open stance and a smooth left handed swing. He runs well and puts together good at bats with an above average approach. On the mound McGuire exhibited a high 3/4 arm slot with a smooth delivery. He works off his curveball and shows he can throw his CB in any count. His CB is his most valuable asset on the mound. The 1/7 breaker has good bite and above average depth. If he fills out and continues to get stronger he could be a nice player at the next level. FB 78-80; CB 65-66.

Malachi Flaherty OF / RHP / Guilderland , NY / 2020Tall lean frame with room to fill out. On the mound he features an over the top delivery and creates good drive down hill. He has command with his fastball and uses both sides of the plate effectively. On the mound he shows good presence and an upbeat temp. He uses his FB to set up his nice 11/5 CB. FB 78-80; CB 70-72. |
Joseph Peregrim RHP / 3B / Shaker , NY / 2020A tall, lean athlete with a calm presence on the mound. He features a low 3/4 arm slot with a smooth, repeatable delivery. Peregrim shows good command and exhibits a fastball with above average ASR due to his arm slot. FB 77-79; BB 67-70. |
Robert Fratangelo C / 3B / Shaker, NY / 2021Strong athletic build 5-foot-9 185 pounds. Fratangelo shows some nice tools behind the dish. He features a well above average arm which proves to be his best asset. He has good hands when receiving, staying quiet with minimal movement. Throwing to second he shows good quick feet and a strong arm. At the plate he has a strong compact swing that has A contact approach. Future Games attendee.

Devin Campbell 2B / RHP / Guilderland, NY / 2020Small athletic build with lots of quick twitch actions. He has a balanced stance in the box and features a short compact swing. Campbells strong compact build generates plus power given his frame and shows the ability to go gap-to-gap. On the mound he features a FB with ASR and a sharp 11/5 CB. He works with good tempo and shows the ability to command both sides of the plate. FB 80-84; CB 72-73.

Chance Checca OF / 3B / Ballston Spa, NY / 2021Big, strong athlete. Checca is a big powerful RHH who generates consistent contact. He has a balanced approach in the box and barrels up pitches driving the ball gap to gap. He has above average pull side pop. In the field he moves well for a corner infielder and has a good arm to make the throw deep down the line. He is a powerful athlete and if he continues to get stronger and continues to progress he is a nice middle of the order prospect to watch. Future Games attendee.

Nicholas Winslow C / 1B / Saratoga Central Catholic, NY / 2020Wiry strong athlete behind the dish. Winslow features good hands and good feet on throws to all bases. He has a big arm that he releases from a variety of arm slots depending on the type of throw and what base. He moves well behind the plate and does a nice job handling the pitching staff as well as handling the high velocity pitchers. At the plate he features a balanced approach with good contact ability.Albany Commit.

Joey Laurer RHP / 2B / Saratoga Springs, NY / 2020A pure athlete with lots of quick twitch movements. On the mound Laurer shows plus command and works downhill to throw a heavy ball. He works off his FB that he shows the ability to throw inside effectively. He is composed on the mound and shows poise with runners in scoring position. FB 84-86 T87; BB 71-73. Siena Commit. |
Troy Butler RHP / Fort Plain , NY / 2021A 6-foot-1 RHP Butler is plus athlete with room to fill out and get stronger. Butler shows command of his FB and CB with the ability to use both sides of the plate to set up his pitches. He only goes from the stretch and has a very repeatable delivery giving him the ability to throw from a consistent arm slot. He has a very advanced approach on the mound on how he attacks hitters; not showing his CH till the 3rd time through the line up. FB 85-86 T87; BB 75-76; CH 73. Binghamton Commit. |
Greg Farone LHP / 1B / Schenectady , NY / 2020A big physical frame; shows off athleticism. In the box Farone exhibits a balanced stance and a toe lift that keeps him on time. he has a smooth strong swing that lets him keep the barrel in the hitting window a long time. On the mound Farone features a FB with good arm side run that he uses to get ahead in the count. he also features a nice 2/8 CB that he uses as an out pitch. Farone has plus command of both pitches and shows the ability to mix them in order to keep hitters off balance. FB 78-80 T82; BB 68-71.

Bryce Emery RHP / 3B / Saratoga Springs , NY / 2020Bryce is a long lean arm who is very projectable. He was an effortless 80-82 using very little lower half. Fastball was consistently down in the zone and around the plate. Breaking ball was tight and used primarily in two strike counts as an outpitch. Has the ability to be a high 80’s guy with physical maturation and utilization of his legs. Definitely a guy who likes to compete on the mound.

Jeremiah Deitz 2B / SS / Schenectady, NY / 2020Stocky but athletic build with lots of quick twitch actions. Deitz has a quick bat that stays through the hitting window a long time. He gets good extension leading to quality pull side pop. He runs well and shows good instincts on the bases, showing the ability to take the extra base on balls in the dirt. In the field Deitz has smooth hands and moves well attacking the baseball in all directions. If he continues to get stronger and continues to sharpen up his tools he could be a nice prospect.

Brian Reinke LHP / 1B / Honeoye Falls Lima, NY / 2021Broad shoulder south paw who features a low to mid-80's fastball and above average curveball with late, sharp downer action. Can throw all pitches for strikes or expand. One of the top LHP pitchers in the state at any grad year.

2021 OF Alex Gannon (Monohasen)
CF and RHH who showcases above average speed, range and arm. Started 2 double plays, after tracking down a line drive in the gap and ranged for a deep flyball. Gets his hips and shoulders turned quickly and throws on a line.
2021 LHP CJ Kuentzel (Shaker)
Slight build. FB mid to upper 70s and CB mid 60s with late movement. Good command with both pitches and a short, quick arm action and repeatable delivery.

3B and RHH with strong frame and good speed and range. Possesses a balanced swing with pull-side power. Hard nosed player who gets after it at every chance.

2021 Joe Mirabile (Shaker)
Three-sport athlete with a big frame that will add muscle. Smooth LHH with plus power. Showed quick footwork and instincts at 1B.
2022 Aidan O'Keefe (Albany Academy)
Lean SS with range and quick release. RHH who possesses gap-to-gap power and quick hands that travel straight to the ball. Showed great instincts on the bases, with multiple stolen bases in the tournament.
2022 RHP Adan Pajak (Bethlehem)
Lean RHP topped out at 75 MPH with a low-effort, repeatable delivery. Tight swing-and-miss slider 57-63 MPH.
2021 1B Sean Flaherty (Shenendehowa)
Big strong athletic build. LHH with a slight open stance. Exhibits a powerful swing, driving through the baseball. Showed the ability to generate pull side pop as well as go the opposite way. In the field he moves well laterally, and shows above average athleticism for a corner infielder.
2020 C/1B Thomas Millett (Mohonasen HS / Frozen Ropes Outlaws)
Solid build who is well put together. Millett is has a strong build with athleticism. In the box he has a balanced stance with a compact line drive swing. He has a strong lower half and uses that to go gap to gap. Behind the plate is where Millett shines as an above average defender. He features soft hands receiving showing the ability to switch stances to create better angles to present pitches. He is an above average blocker and shows excellent lateral range and quickness. His arm is his best asset and flashes a 2.03- 2.15 pop between innings. If he can continue to progress in the box he could be a very nice prospect at the next level.

2021 RHP Brendan Hines (Rhinebeck)
A lean athletic frame with room to fill out and get stronger. Hines exhibits good tempo on the mound and a good presence. He features an over the top arm slot. He works both sides of the plate and shows the consistent ability to stay down in the zone. Exhibits a nice sharp 11/6 CB that has tight spin and late break that he shows the ability to throw early and often. FB 79-81; 11/6 CB 60-61
2020 OF/ LHP Ayden Wood (Courtice Secondary School, Ontario)
Short stocky athlete with lots of room to fill out and get stronger. He is a true two way prospect. At the plate he has a nice balanced approach with a very compact swing that generates consistent line drives. He keeps his hands inside the ball well and gets nice backspin showing the ability to go gap to gap. His athleticism coupled with his advance approach in the box gives him the ability to stretch borderline singles into doubles. On the mound he Features a FB with above average ASR and a nice hard BB that keeps hitters off balanced. FB 80-83 BB 73-75
2021 SS Brendon Shader (Galway HS)
Long and lean athlete with lots of room to fill out. Shader has a slight open stance in the box with a smooth swing. He creates good leverage with his long levers to get extension and drive the ball gap to gap. In the field he has good lateral quickness and shows the ability to get the ball in the hole and make a strong throw. Shader features good hands and good feet working through the baseball. If he fills out and continues to work he could be a nice prospect with upside in the middle of the infield.
2021 3B Dante D’Amore (Southington)
Athletic built infielder at 5’11 180 pounds. Smooth hands and a natural feel for any of the infield positions. Has a balanced stance at the plate with a very simple approach. His limited hand movement and short stride allows him to be extremely compact to the baseball. Dante also has quick hands and shows the ability to not be overmatched by higher level arms. His physical strength and ability to make pitch to pitch adjustments will make him able to hit for both power and average at the college level.
2021 OF Jimmy McCardle (Kingston)
Long thin outfielder with a very high ceiling. Should continue to mature and add muscle in the next couple of years. Shows a great approach at the plate with limited movement and the ability to hit the ball hard up the middle. Was consistently on time and wanted to hit the ball to all fields. He is an aggressive runner and will look to take an extra base at any point. Jimmy will be able to hit for power to the opposite field as he matures physically.

2021 RHP Jack Bohrer (Ridgfield High School Connecticut)
6-foot-2 190 pounds with a strong frame. Physically mature for his age. Touched 85 mph, consistently 81-84 with a 4 seam fastball. Located the fastball on the corner with the occasional misses up in the zone. 11-5 curveball 66-68 mph with good command. Was able to throw both the get me over if behind the county and the two strike out of the zone. He was very fluent and clean mechanically. Did a good job with runners on base mixing up looks and times to the plate. With added velocity and strength will be a polished starter at the college level.

2020 EH Will Ahl (Shaker)
A larger more stocky build who generates good power to all fields. Ahl has a smooth swing and an advanced approach in the box. He exhibits opposite field power, peppering the RCF gap for doubles. He has a line drive swing and when elevated consistently hits for extra bases. A middle of the order bat with a good idea of what he's trying to do in each at bat.
2020 CF JoJo Carnislia (Clarkstown North)
A compact and strong athlete. In the box Carnislia features a compact swing with a quick bat. He stays through the baseball nicely to all fields with a line drive swing that generates consistent hard contact. He has a good approach in the box and an advanced understanding of situational baseball. Carnislia has good speed and shows the ability to steal bases consistently. In the field he has a good first step in CF taking charge and covering gap to gap.
2020 SS Orlando Clemente (North Rockland)
A strong short athletic build with plus athleticism. Clemente has a balanced stance in the box with a very mature approach; sitting on pitches. He features a short compact swing, that he is looking to drive the ball gap to gap. Clemente is an above average runner which is exhibited both on the bases and in the field. In the field he shows lateral range and a strong arm. He has above average hands and feet for the SS position.
2021 3B/RHP Matt Cefola (Albertus Magnus)
A wiry lean athletic build with plenty of room to fill out and get stronger. Cefola exhibits a lot of quick twitch movements which translate on the field and in the box. He has a smooth swing that creates a lot of hard contact. His bat stays in the hitting window for a long time giving him the ability to adjust well to the off speed pitches and drive the ball gap to gap. He moves well on the bases and in the field. In the field Cefola has good hands and works through the baseball with proper angles to make the throws to all bases. If he continues to get stronger and fills out his frame he could be a prospect to watch.
