Canandaigua's Cooper keeps focus on goals ahead

Years in the making, Tanner Cooper cemented his career’s next stage in less than a week. One day following Prep Baseball Report’s 2016 New York State Games, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound shortstop/right-handed pitcher made an official campus visit. By that weekend, the soon-to-be high school senior committed to Stony Brook University where he accepted an athletic scholarship to play for the Seawolves.

“It was a great feeling,” Cooper said. “All the work I’ve been putting in and finally being able to know where I was going was a huge relief.”

Goal reached, one might expect the Canandaigua Brave to feel a lofty sense of contentment. Cooper doesn’t see it that way.
