Blast Breakdown: 2022 SS/RHP Michael Mancini (Maine-Endwell)
December 22, 2020
Before we get started, we'll go over and define some of the terminology being used in the piece:
Bat Speed- The total speed of the sweet spot of the bat at impact, measured in mph. The sweet spot is measured 6 inches from the tip of the bat.
Rotational Acceleration- A measure of how quickly the hitter gets the bat from launch position into the swing plane. This is measured in G-Force (g).
Exit Velocity- The measures the speed of the ball off the bat, measured in miles per hour (mph).

The smooth swinging LHH had a big summer attending the NY State Games and the NE Future Games where he had a break out performance with a impressive BP round in the work out and then led team NY in hits during game action.
The bat speed is very impressive, peaked at 80.8 mph and a average of 74.26 mph, considering the swing is very smooth and balanced throughout. The bat speed carried over to the results where he had a top exit velocity of 93 mph and 87 mph average exit velo displaying his consistency.
What may be more impressive is Mancini's rotational acceleration peaked at 29g's and averaged 25g's (MLB avg. 16.8g's). This means he can very quickly accelerate into his plus bat speed allowing him to track the pitch longer and make late decisions equipping him to hit high velocity and off speed which was evident in his mature approach in game play at the future games where he consistently barreled the ball to all fields.
