Reno Fall ID: Quick Hits

Brett Harrison
West Coast Supervisor

On Sunday, October 13th, the Prep Baseball Nevada staff hosted it's first high school showcase of the fall season with the Reno Fall ID hosted on the campus of the University of Nevada at Peccole Park in Reno, Nevada. This event featured roughly 30 players in the Northern Nevada area in the 2025 - 2028 classes with all players running through a full workout alongside our tech partners TrackMan and Blast Motion.

Fall ID's serve as one final chance for players to showcase their gains and development over the past year before baseball slows down to close out 2024.

Today, we highlight the immediate standouts from the Reno Fall ID with the Quick Hits.

Reno Fall ID: quick hits

Caden Birch SS / 2B / North Valleys, NV / 2025

The 2024 West Coast Games standout followed up his impressive performance with another excellent outing at the Reno Fall ID. Each part of his game continues to trend, paralleling his physical development and added strength. After producing one of the events top batting practice sessions with consistent barrels to the big part of the yard, leaving it multiple times, he showed off improved defensive actions and range with progress made in his lateral plays with more expected to come. The small school product is a player to keep high on your list of players to follow this upcoming Spring.

Jackson Trueblood RHP / 3B / Spanish Springs, NV / 2026

One of the highest riser in Nevada’s 2026 Class over the past few weeks has been Jackson Trueblood. Last week, standing tall against a stout Team Arizona at the Future Games, taking a few notes from the Prep Baseball Staff, then applying them in his bullpen session at the Reno Fall ID where he already showed more intent with each of his three pitches, tunneling his secondary mix much more effectively off of his fastball. With more velocity projected to come, this will be an arm to keep on your follow list over the next two years.

Gavin Talonen RHP / 3B / Galena, NV / 2025

Talonen came into the Reno Fall ID with a ton of excitement around his name after a successful Fall season with the Royals Scout Team. At 6-foot-2/183 lbs., he has all the makings of a legitimate arm at the next level with a loose, clean arm action and flashes of present feel for his secondary mix. His fastball running up to 86 mph after working through an entire Pro-Style Workout, leads you to believe there is much more in the tank. This will be another high follow this upcoming Spring and we would not be surprised if he is one of the next Nevada 2025 prospects off the board.

Emilio Alonso OF / RHP / Bishop Manogue, NV / 2026

With Alonso back to full health, he looked as if he hasn’t skipped a beat with impressive showings on the mound, at the plate and in the field, finding his name at or near the top of almost every category that applied to him. The physical strength added to his Prep Baseball Verified 5-foot-10 frame has seen him set new personal bests including Blast Hand Speed - 19.8 mph, Blast Bat Speed - 68.8 mph, Exit Velocity - 91.7 mph, and an event best Outfield Velocity - 86 mph. Alonso will be a key piece on an exciting Manogue team this upcoming Spring.

Nick Armstrong 1B / OF / Damonte Ranch, NV / 2026

Armstrong’s first time out with us and he made an immediate impression on the Prep Baseball Staff with arguably the most impressive batting practice session of the day, putting up huge offensive numbers. His event best 104.9 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity and 100.9 mph Average TrackMan Exit Velocity instantly put him on the radar as one for the top power bats in Nevada’s 2026 Class. Keep an eye on this Damonte Ranch 1B as we project that he is just now scratching the surface of the massive power that is still yet to come.

Ky Dimond RHP / 3B / Robert McQueen, NV / 2026

Another prospect whose first time out with us, made an immediate impression on the Prep Baseball Staff with his Prep Baseball Verified 6-foot-4 frame pair with his athletic actions making him an intruiging player right out of the gate. The McQueen product showed off his intriguing actions on both sides of the ball with a 93.8 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity to go with his feel for the big part of the yard throuhgout his batting practice session. On the mound, the long levers helped generate impressive actions on his developing mix with velocity expected to climb over the next few years.

Chase Carnahan 2B / OF / Churchill County, NV / 2025

The small school product out of Churchill County put up some big numbers at the Reno Fall ID with the intriguing actions to go with it. His 95.1 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity paired with his present Hand Speed (70.2) makes him a legitimate prospect that we project will translate well to the next level. His lateral range on the defensive side of the ball can be attributed to his 7.01 VALD 60 Time and that is only expected to progress as he continues his physical development.

Landon Garrido LHP / OF / Spanish Springs, NV / 2026

The Spanish Springs product was one of the early standouts at the Reno Fall ID after his line drive filled batting practice session, showing off his ability to spray the ball to all fields with present barrel awareness. On the mound, he showed off an intriguing three pitch mix that he showed he could command with present heaviness in both his fastball and changeup up to go with a curveball that flashed some tunnel off his fastball. Garrido will be a player to keep tabs on over the next two years with size and strength gains expected to amplify each part of his game.
