Nevada Diamond Notes: Week Eight
April 29, 2024
Each week, the Prep Baseball Nevada staff asks High School coaches across the State to fill out our Player/Pitcher of the Week questionnaire which helps us in our selection process of honoring the top performances. With all of the talent throughout Nevada, it can be difficult to just pinpoint one pitcher and positional player each week so our 'Diamond Notes' articles will serve the purpose of highlighting the top performances that were submitted by coaches.
Keep an eye on our social media accounts throughout the week as each Friday/Saturday we will send out the link to the questionnaire with all submissions due at 11:59PM on Saturday.
Below, we'll take a look at some of performances across the State over the past week.

NEVADA DIAMOND NOTES: WEEK EIGHT
‘24 RHP Dylan Franco (Shadow Ridge/uncommitted): Franco is one of the top uncommitted arms in the State and turned in his second straight five-inning one hitter. In the Mustangs 2-0 win over Las Vegas, Franco punched out ten over five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and five walks. Franco put together one of the top performances in Nevada this past week among pitchers and continues to impress on the mound this season.
‘25 OF/LHP Tyler Straily (Foothill/Uncommitted): In Foothill’s lone win of the week, Straily’s produced both at the dish and on the mound as the Falcons took down Bishop Gorman 14-4. At the dish, Straily went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored and a HBP. On the mound, he worked three innings and was the winning pitcher. Aside from the victory over Gorman, Foothill also dropped games against Green Valley and Durango, now 17-11-1 on the season.
‘24 INF TJ Shaw Jr. (Green Valley/Uncommitted): Shaw was offensive leader this week for the Gators and racked up a season-high five RBI’s in Tuesday’s matchup against Palo Verde. In Green Valley’s three games, the uncommitted senior went 4-for-11 with a home run, three runs scored, seven RBI and a walk. The Gators opened up the week with a 15-5 win over Foothill before dropping a pair to Palo Verde.
‘25 INF Caden Kirby (Green Valley/Nevada): Kirby was another top offensive producer for the Gators this past week as he reached base in 10 of his 14 at-bats. The uncommitted junior came around to score multiple times in each game, while picking up multiple hits in two of the three. Kirby went 5-for-9 with three doubles, seven runs scored, two RBI and five walks.
‘24 RHP Zach Dinubilo (Spanish Springs/Clark College): The Clark College commit turned into another strong start this past week as he worked six innings and allowed just six to reach base. Over the six innings, Dinubilo allowed two runs, four hits, two walks and struck out seven. The Cougars went 1-1 on the week with a 10-0 win over Carson, as well as a 2-1 loss against McQueen.
‘26 RHP Nick Collingbourne (SECTA/Uncommitted): The underclass right-hander had limited time on the mound this past week as he pitched just 1-2 innings but he had swing and miss stuff as he punched out five. In the Roadrunners 8-7 loss to Legacy, Collingbourne allowed just no runs on two hits and two walks, along with his five punchouts. SECTA played just two games this past week, both against Legacy, as they split the two-game series.
