Las Vegas Preseason ID: Quick Hits (Underclass Prospects)
January 26, 2024
On Wednesday, January 24th, the PBR Nevada staff hosted it's first event of the year with the Las Vegas Preseason ID. This event featured a ton of uncommitted talent among the 76 players in attendance, including several unsigned seniors who should be on the radar of college coaches as the 2024 class continues roll off the board.
Like all of our events, players participated in a pro-style workout in front of our staff and collected unrivaled data in the process through our top-of-the-line tech partners. These events also serve as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Nevada State Games, Future Games, Jr. Future Games, West Coast Games, West Coast Pro Case and more.

Las Vegas Preseason ID: Quick Hits
Cash Martin RHP / 3B / Faith Lutheran, NV / 2027
Rankings StateRank: 5 / POS: 1
The freshman made a name for himself with his standout performance at the 2023 Jr. Future Games and at the Las Vegas Preseason ID, his stock made another jump after producing the top bullpen session of the event, earning a number of event bests. His fastball showed real life, topping out at 90.3 mph via TrackMan with a polished secondary mix that saw his curveball spin reach up to 3197 rpm, elite MLB numbers, and changeup that had up to 20.2 inches of Horizontal Movement. Expect Martin to be a key contributor for a talented Faith Lutheran team that is primed for a big 2024.

Troy Southisene OF / SS / Basic, NV / 2026The last member of the Southisene Army, Troy lives up to the name and then some with advanced defensive actions in both the outfield and infield, making him a Swiss Army Knife type defender that will allow you to keep his bat in the lineup regardless of defensive need. During the offensive portion of the event, Nevada’s #3 ranked 2026 showed off is mature approach at the plate, living in the big part of the yard with flashes of power that we expect continue improving over the next few years as he continues to develop physically. Keep this one high on your board as a player that should come off the board quickly once recruits opens in August.

Shawn Mack 1B / RHP / Liberty, NV / 2026

Arguably the highest riser at Las Vegas Preseason ID, Mack put together one of the events top overall performances finding himself near the top of almost every statistical category that applied to him. Offensively, he put his present power on display with improvements in the swing that help him be more efficient to the ball, producing 98.2 mph Exit Velocity. On the mound, he ran it up to 88.7 mph with the long, loose arm action and present life on his fastball with a developing secondary mix that we expect to continue becoming more consistent and tunnel off his fastball. This is another prospect in the 2026 Class that will be drawing significant attention come August.

Lyndon Lee SS / 2B / Basic Academy , NV / 2026
Rankings StateRank: 6 / POS: 3
Arguably the top producer for Team Nevada at the 2023 Future Games, Lee continued to prove why at the Las Vegas Preseason ID with one of the top batting practice session of the day. His advanced approach and mature feel at the plate help him spray line drives to all fields with flashes of power that we expect come as he matures physically. Defensively, he’s is as sure handed as they come in Nevada’s 2026 Class with the ability to hold down a premium position at the next level.

Rankings StateRank: 9 / POS: 1
The Houston recruit had a massive day with standout metrics on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball with an electric batting practice session that saw his present power on display throughout. One of the physically strongest players at the event, he gets every bit of his frame, swinging with authority and consistently finding the barrel. On the defensive side, his 89 mph Infield Velocity ranked him at #2 in the event with flashes of improved range that should help him stay up the middle at the next level.

|
Kane Barber LHP / OF / Centennial, NV / 2026
Rankings StateRank: 8 / POS: 1
Barber comes off a huge 2023 where he made his mark as front end start for a talented Centennial group, starting his high school career with a pair of compete game shutouts. He could be argued has having the most pitchability in the 2026 Class as a player who understands how to stay within his game in order to be the most effective. His present heaviness and run on his fastball paired th feel for his slider/changeup secondary mix make him a southpaw that teams will want to follow closely. The velocity is coming, but movement is where his money will be made with 19.4 inches of Horizontal Movement and 16.0 inches of Induced Vertical Break on his fastball, 23.1 inches of HM on his changeup that he already has proven to be comfortable with and a sweeping slider that tunnels well of his fastball.

Chase Wilk 1B / OF / Bishop Gorman, NV / 2026
Rankings StateRank: 10 / POS: 1
Each time out with us, Wilk seems to have gotten bigger and stronger and his game seems to be following that trend as well with obvious improvements in his swing as well as on the defensive side on and around the bag at first base. The power numbers have continued to trend for the Bishop Gorman product and at the Las Vegas Preseason ID, he showed off his ability to drive the ball to the big part of the yard with improved feel for the barrel. The athleticism has also taken another step as well with his footwork coming off the bag as well as through the fielding process consistently improving. Keep an eye out for Wilk this Spring and into the Summer.
