Game Notes: (#7) Foothill at (#5) Bishop Gorman

The tone was set in the first inning of this Top 10 matchup with quick 1-2-3 performance from LSU commit and Prep Baseball ProCase - West attendee, James Whitaker. The momentum continued to roll in the bottom of the first as Gorman jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with the help of a 2-RBI double from USC commit and 2023 Future Games standout, Nolan Eberwein. The Gaels added two more in the 3rd and two more in the 6th to win 7-0 in a key League Game as the standings start to take shape with playoffs seemingly right around the corner.

+ James Whitaker, 2025 RHP/OF (LSU Commit) - The LSU commit continued to his outstanding Spring campaign with another dominant performance on the mound where it took him only 76 pitches to go 7.0 innings in his complete game effort. Sitting at 86-87 mph with both his changeup and curveball both proving effective throughout, Whitaker allowed 0 runs and only 3 hits while striking out 7, keeping hitters off balance and inducing weak contact. While he his proved his ability to move his fastball in and out, his changeup seemed to be his go to pitch as either a set up or strike out pitch as he showed advanced feel for it with present confidence to use it in any count. Whitaker will be a vital piece of the Gaels post season run next month and will also represent Nevada at the 2024 Prep Baseball ProCase - West this coming June.

+ Nolan Eberwein, 2025 OF (USC Commit) - Eberwein has continue to solidly himself as one of the top bats in the state, regardless of class, standing at a Prep Baseball Verified 6-foot-3 (and growing) with room to add plenty of size and strength to his frame. The future Trojan put together a massive day at the plate to help lead the Gaels to a key Leage win, going 2 for 3 with 4 RBIs coming across the plate once himself. A few minor tweaks at the plate seem to have him dialed in heading into the home stretch of the 2024 Spring Season. Eberwein is set to attend the 2024 Prep Baseball ProCase - West this upcoming June.

+ Chase Wilk, 2026 1B - The 2023 Future Games alum has proven each time out at a Prep Baseball event that he has the present power that is a big part of today's game, and in yesterday's Top 10 matchup, he also showed his ability to use all fields as he lined a single to rightfield to bring in a key run in the 3rd inning to extend the Gorman lead. His present size at 6-foot-2, 195.8, the sophomore seems to be adjusting to the varsity level quickly, hitting .333 while settling showing improved feel around the bag at firstbase to go with it. This will be a player to keep on your radar over the next few years as his game continues to trend in the right direction.
