Uncommitted Upperclass Spotlight: Ian Graf

Brett Harrison
Nevada Scouting Director

The thick built, barrel chested prospect with present strength throughout his 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame is the Top Uncommitted Catcher in the 2021 Class. His ability at and behind the plate makes him an intriguing prospect that in a regular year would most likely have been locked up with a commitment at this point. At the plate, he pounded the ball to centerfield as he lived mostly gap to gap throughout his round with a naturally uphill swing that achieved a 99.3 mph Max Exit Velocity via TrackMan with seemingly more in the tank when he gets his lower half more involved. His ability behind the plate was also put on display as he showcased improved receiving skills with present strength in his hands and forearms that allowed him to hand velocity down in the zone and a Pop Time range of 1.85 – 1.98 with throws around the bag at 80 mph Catcher Velocity. This is a prospect who may not be on the board much longer with these kinds of tools that should transition very well to the next level.
