Nevada Scouting Director
Cooper Sheff, '23, is a young prospect with a long, lean frame with projectable tools both on the mound and as an infielder. As a pitcher, he has a smooth, rhythmic delivery, drop and drive type with a long, loose arm from the 3/4 arm slot, living around the zone with each of his three pitches. His fastball sat between 76-79 mph at the Nevada State Games, but as of last weekend he showed positive progression sitting 81-82 mph with arm side run. In the field, he uses his high baseball IQ, above average instincts and smooth actions to consistently make plays in the middle infield even though he projects to move to a corner infield spot due to his size. At the plate, the freshman routinely maintains excellent balance with a small, easy rhythm and a gap to gap approach. At the Nevada State Games, he showed power potential during his batting practice round, driving the ball to all fields. When you add all the ingredients of Sheff's game together, it makes him an exciting player to follow heading into his freshman campaign with Basic Academy.

Scouting Report
Cooper is already a beast, passing the eye test with a physical frame and tons of projection. Body type is high waisted, broad shoulders, and muscular/veined build. An above average 2 way player for age, Cooper will be a name that will soon be on everyone’s radar, if not all ready. Cooper comes from a good baseball background and shows a high-quality baseball IQ. Cooper showed mound presence and ambushed the strike zone with tons of strikes. Mechanics were consistent and movement throughout delivery showed athleticism for repeatability. Arm action is quick and compact along with long levers allowing makings to spin the baseball effectively. Arm strength in OF was 82mph and down a tick on mound. FB was 76-79 with life at the plate. CB/SL showed some plus sweeping action that registered 66-69 along with a complimentary Change up, 67-68, that showed depth at the plate.
