Uncommitted Spotlight: '20 Lane Oliphant
March 16, 2020
Catching one of the top pitching staffs in the state, Lane Oliphant has the ability to receive and frame with ease while flashing a sub 2.00 pop time. The high energy, Nevada All-State Games attendee stood out with the ability to handle velocity and top off speed pitches at the event, with little movement in his presentation. Oliphant showcased plus instincts and athleticism behind the dish with his ability to improvise, making quality throws to second after receiving or blocking a bad pitch as a testament to his gritty style of play. At the plate, he maintains a gap to gap approach with the ability to leave the yard if you make a mistake up in the zone.
Position: C, Uncommitted Senior
Body: 5-foot-10, 175-pounds. Sturdy, athletic build, strong lower half
Defense: Athletic, mobile backstop, soft, strong hands to frame and stick pitches with ease, quick exchange, block and recovers quickly

Oliphant has proved throughout his high school career that he is capable of handling next level arms with the energy and athleticism to continue doing it at the next level. A prospect that is already on a couple school's radar, he is a guys we expect to be picked up sooner rather than later.
