The Northern Nevada Open is in the books and now we move into the post event coverage, breaking down and highlighting the standouts from the event with Quick Hits, Stat Leaderboards, Blast Motion Leaderboards and Pitching Leaderboards. The immediate takeaway from this past weekends event was impressive overall offensive performance that saw a number of balls leave the yard with multiple 100 mph Exit Velocities and mature, line drive filled rounds coming from players in each high school class.

At the Northern Nevada Open, we retrieved a significant amount of data on each player including: 60 Times measured by Swift Syncro, Batting Practice measured by TrackMan, Catch Pop Time and Velocity, Outfield Evaluation and Velocity, Infield Evaluation and Velocity and Pitcher Bullpens analyzed and assessed by TrackMan. We pride ourselves on utilizing the latest technology in the game to provide the most accurate data for both the player and those recruiting/evaluating the player.

Northern nevada Open: QUICK HITS

__________________________________________________________

Christian Obos RHP / OF / Spanish Springs, NV / 2023

Obos has an immediate physical presence, standing at 6-foot-4/195 lbs. with an proportionate build and rooms to add strength. The two-way understands how to use his size to develop leverage through his swing, leaving the yard multiple times during his batting practice session where he showed off his present power, especially to the pull side, with three 101+ mph TrackMan Exit Velocities. Starting in a tall, slightly opened set up, he strides back to square with lift through the zone that produced consistent line drive/deep fly balls throughout his round. His day was not over. The Uncommitted Senior then produced the events Top Outfield Velocity, running it up to an accurate 88 mph throw to home with clean defensive actions through the ball. On the mound, he earned the days Top Fastball Velocity at 85.9 mph (2351 RPM Avg. Spin) via TrackMan with much more projected to come with a heavy reliance on his athleticism throughout his delivery. His developing secondary mix has plenty of room to improve with flashes of present action on his slider. Obos has seen his stock rise over the past year and should be a key contributor on a Spanish Springs team that should make some serious noise this Spring.

Nick Leonard C / 1B / Reed , NV / 2025

The Reed product has continued to show progress both at and behind the plate at each event he has attended. Already possessing a stout, solid frame at 5-foot-9, 185 pounds, the most noticeable improvement was his flexibility and effective receiving behind the plate the worked up into the zone as he begins to understand how to use the present strength he possesses. Thought his actions behind the plate were the most improvement, his ability at the plate is what set him apart at Northern Nevada Open. The 2025 produced seven 95+ mph TrackMan Exit Velocities during his batting practice session, topping out at 99.2 mph with an event best 90% Hard Hit Percentage. Leonard has steadily improved his stock over the past few month with more expected and will be a staple in the heart of the Raiders lineup this Spring.

Weston Meyer C / 3B / Damonte Ranch, NV / 2024

The Damonte Ranch product put together an impressive overall day at the Northern Nevada Open with a line drive filled batting practice session and with an impressive showing behind the plate during the Catcher Evaluations as well as the improved receiving that was on display during the Pitcher Bullpens. Meyer has continued his climb to be in the conversation with the top defensive catchers in Nevada's 2024 Class, especially after his Event Best 1.93 Pop Time with each of his reps being under the 2.00 benchmark time. The obvious improvements to his catch and throw could be attributed to his additional strength and size, also helping improve his arm strength to an Event Best 77 mph with present carry and accuracy. Meyer is a guy to keep on your radar as a he continues to impress and progress on both sides of the ball each time out with us.

Caden Birch SS / RHP / North Valleys, NV / 2025

Birch has continued to insert himself into the conversation of one of the top Nevada infielders to know in the 2025 Class. The small school product out of North Valleys put together one of the days top offensive performances with flashes of present power to the pull side, while also showing his ability to drive the ball to the big part of the yard. He has added obvious size and strength to his 6-foot-0 frame and it was immediately put to use with his loud batting practice round that saw him leave the yard twice with multiple 97+ mph TrackMan Exit Velocities and his best being 101.9 mph. Birch is a player to keep on your radar over the next couple years with positive progress expected to help him climb up the 2025 PBR Player Rankings.

Michael Deitz 1B / OF / Damonte Ranch, NV / 2023

Deitz came into the Northern Nevada Open and made an immediate impression on the PBR Staff, standing at 6-foot-4/220 pound with a proportionate, sturdy frame that he used well on both sides of the ball with present athleticism. Offensively, once he got settled in, he got into a few balls that exploded of his wood bat where he produced the days Top TrackMan Exit Velocity of 104.1 mph, leaving the yard twice during his round with a pair of no doubt shots. His twice, shoulder width set up with a simple stride that gets down on time allowed his barrel to clear with ease as he stayed in his legs well throughout his swing that produced easy pull side power. Keep Deitz on your radar as a potential big bat the could live in the heart of a line up at the next level.

Christian Olson RHP / 3B / Damonte Ranch , NV / 2023

The Damonte Ranch Senior produced arguably the top bullpen of the Northern Nevada Open with a three pitch mix that he showed present confidence with living in the zone. His compact, clean delivery allows him to be consistent with a repeated or similar arm cycle. His improved fastball topped out at 85.0 mph with some flashes of arm side life while living in the 83-84 mph range. His changeup may be his most improved pitch with present heaviness that fades away from left-handed hitters. His slider showed obvious improvement in its shape with flashes of back up and showed later, tighter action with located towards the bottom of the zone.

Landon Pahang SS / RHP / Spanish Springs , NV / 2026

The Team Nevada standout at the 2022 Junior Future Games continued to show why he belongs among the top 2026's in the Silver State. Pahang comes fresh off his performance in Atlanta and continued to show off his confident actions on both sides of the ball at the Northern Nevada Open. His athletic set up at the plate with a weight shift back into his load and low hovering leg kick that works to get down on time allows him to stay in his legs exceptionally well as he flashed a bit of what is to come as he left the yard to left field during his batting practice session with an improved personal best Exit Velocity of 92.6 mph with consistent barrels throughout his round. Defensively, his foot work through the ball has continued to progress, showing comfort ranging laterally with fluid hands into his high 3/4 slot.
