Legacy Scout Day Recap
January 12, 2020
The Legacy Scout Day showcased the handful of crafty arms that will make up the 2020 Longhorn pitching staff featuring 2021 RHP Dominic Mercado who lived in the bottom of the zone with his 77 mph fastball, a curveball that showed some bite from a repeated arm slot with 11/5 shape and a raw change up that flashed some late life to the arm side that should continue to progress throughout the year. Followed by 2021 LHP Logan Davis who sat in the low 70's with natural arm side run on his fastball and changeup throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot with a smooth, repeated delivery and a curveball that showed late life finishing at or below the knees throughout his bullpen. But, the highlight of the day came from behind the plate when CSN signee Fabian Torres delivered a 1.81 pop time that bumped him ahead of Wooster's Donovan Ratfield, who held the title after his 1.85 pop time at the Nevada State Games in August.
