FOOHILL HS – On a pleasant Friday afternoon, the Foothill Falcons played host to the Legacy Longhorns.  Both starters, ’20 Reece Miller for Foothill and ’20 Isaac Colmenares for Legacy, had their way early with opposing hitters.  The two clubs were scoreless through four innings when the Longhorns struck first in the top of the fifth. After a 1 out free pass and a costly two base error on a groundball to short, the Longhorns ‘21 Justin Lamantia squeezed in the first run of the game. 

Legacy would score three more times in the sixth courtesy of another costly defensive miscue by the Falcons.  Foothill’s offense would come alive in the bottom of the sixth, scoring four runs to tie the game at four.  Four-year starter, ’19 Kelton Lachelt singled in the first run and Zack Martinez would follow with a bases loaded two-run single. The Falcons would plate one more in the inning on a wild pitch by Colmenares. 

With the game tied at four in the seventh, the Longhorns would rebound, scoring three times. The Legacy rally started with '19 Steve Tamborello beating out his second infield hit of the day.  Leadoff man, '21 Aaron Lopez would double down the left field line, scoring Tamborella.  Catcher, ’19 Fabain Torres would score Lopez on a single through the left side, but the real damage came as a result of a routine fly ball to right field that, Falcon outfielder, Tommy Dirk lost in the sun, allowing yet another run for the Longhorns.  Colmenares would finish the game he started, making quick work of the Falcons in the seventh for the complete game victory.

The Falcons first three hitters, ’19 Tommy Dirk, ’21 Ethan Yatson, and ’19 Kelton Lachelt each had two hits each, leading the Foothill offense. Aaron Lopez and '21 Dom Mercado had two hits each for Legacy, but he story for the Longhorns was Isaac Colmenares.

’20 Isaac Colmenares, RHP (Legacy)

Lean, 6-foot 165, Colmenares throws from a 3/4 , sometimes low 3/.4 arm slot, relying heavily on a sinking fastball and his ability to fill up the strike zone with two pitches. He will change arm slots on his fastball and breaking ball which effects pitch definition and keeps opposing hitters off balance.Strength and weight gains will be paramount to velocity improvement but the young right-hander will continue to compete by pounding the bottom of the zone with a high percentage of strikes.
