2023 PBR All-American Game, Spotlight: Ethan Clauss
August 25, 2023
On Saturday, Sept. 23, Prep Baseball Report is hosting its inaugural High School All-American Game at American Family Field, home of the Milwaukee Brewers. The unique event will feature the nation’s top high school seniors who are set to battle against a roster of the country’s best juniors in Class of 2024 vs. Class of 2025 action, giving pro scouts a unique look at current and future draft classes.
We’ve begun to unveil the event’s participants on our social media channels, and we’ll spotlight those players more closely on our site, too, highlighting past performances and scouting reports from the live looks we’ve gathered on this gifted group throughout the years.
We're highlighting junior shortstop Ethan Clauss, a Texas A&M recruit and Nevada native that has solidified himself as a high-end prospect on the circuit this summer. The left-handed hitting middle infielder had a stellar showing at the PBR ProCase West to kick off his summer, and continued to impress at the NPI and Area Codes. Clauss will look to build upon his fantastic summer in Milwaukee next month.
PBR's VP of Scouting Shooter Hunt had this to say: "Clauss, one of the summer’s biggest risers, had the professional scouting community buzzing throughout the week thanks to an elite, 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame, left-handed bat, and strong defensive skills. Balanced in the box from the left side, Clauss presented the look of a potential impact bat with a wider base allowing the hands to work freely in turning the barrel in a tight box with noticeable lag and a propensity for driving the ball to both gaps. He went 2-for-5 in 10 plate appearances that saw him walk FIVE times in showcasing an advanced eye with innate ability to slow things down while still quickly speeding up the barrel. On the dirt, the long, athletic shortstop gracefully moved side-to-side in looking the part of a long-term, premium defender. It is easy to dream on the frame and foundation as a hitter, but the progress that has been displayed with each look this summer is most notable and exciting about his upside."
