Scout Blog: Uncommitted 2025s in Jersey

Dan Valerio
Assistant Scouting Director

As the lead scout in NJ. I have the oppurtunity to travel around from game to game. Evaluting talent and identifying new talent in NJ. With the new recruiting rules it has slowed down the process for high school baseball players. With college baseball at an all time premium of talent they are getting to high school kids later due to the portal. In years past players were allowed to verbally commit whenever. Some as early as middle school. With all that being said It has left some very talented players still uncommitted.

Top Uncommitted 2025’s:

LHP Frank Cairone (Delsea)  NJ - #5

Ultra projectable southpaw. Physical in every way. Built L1/2. Loose arm. Ability to throw strikes in all four quadrants. Top arm for Delsea this spring. Pitched 64 innings and struck out 100.

RHP Jackson Smallets (Gloucester Catholic)

Lean frame @ 6’4. A lot of room to fill out. Loose/fast arm. FB has a ton of sink. Bowling ball feel. Sits high 80’s have seen him into the low 9’s. CB and CH to compliment. CH is the best secondary pitch.

LHP Finn Haines (Mainland)

Really interesting arm talent. Lean, athletic build. Has made that jump yet but with multiple looks this spring I believe it is in there. Sits 85-87 and just fills the zone. CB is gradual and is usually L to Mid 70’s. Does have a S&M CH.

RHP Cory Pascarella (Colonia)

Wiry arm. FB is 86-88 but can run it up higher. Vicious SL with late bite. Punched out a lot of people this spring. 86 K in 56 IP. Front line arm for Colonia especially with his 0.37 ERA.

RHP Justin Hascup (Old Bridge)

Durable build. Strike thrower. Have seen FB in the High 80’s. Mostly 85-86.

1B Jack Mustaro (Gloucester Catholic)

Strong build. Brute strength. Hit in the 3 hole for GC all spring. Makes hard contact consistently.

OF Ben St Pierre (Montclair)

Wiry, lean ATH. Had a breakout spring for Montclair. Hit .447 with an impressive 8 triples.

RHP Kevin Rusinak (Manalapan)

RHP Travis Large (Ocean City)

Proj. frame at 6’4. FB has cut. Throws it in the mid to high 80’s. Sweeper breaking ball.

UTL Dom Inzilla (Allentown)

Big spring from Inzilla. Carried the offense along with Sweeney. Inzilla has a compact swing with power to the pullside.
