PBR NJ Staff

With the completion of the Top Prospect Games on October 20th it is time to breakdown what pitchers and hitters stood out. This event featured a variety of well known guys but also some new names to highlight. Every Summer and Fall we have the TPG's to bring the states top talent together to compete against each other. This also helps us select players for Future Games and other events. We shift through recommendations and sign ups to select rosters of players that are current and future prospects. This year this event featured prospects from the 2026-2028 grad classes. These give us a look at who’s next. Meaning the next crop of high end college commits and draft picks.  Below I will go through a full breakdown of who stood out and their current best tool.

On the Mound -

2026 LHP Ryan Auten (Immaculata) stole the show. He led the whole event with a peak fastball velocity of 90.6 mph. The projectable 6 foot 6” 205LB has a 4 pitch mix. His fastball sat 88-90 with ext of 6’8. Spun a CB 72-74 mph. Landed a SL 76-81 with 11 inches of HM. CH 72-74 has heavy fade. With a recent commitment to Wake Forest post event. Look for Auten to continue to climb the rankings in the next update. Name to follow this spring for Immaculata.

2026 RHP Cody Herman (Ramapo) - Physical right hander. Durable frame with projection to get stronger. Stands 6 foot 2” 215 LBS. Has a 3 pitch offering. FB sits 85-89 with some arm side action. (IVB 6.0 / HM 12). The SL has a short break action and sits in the 74-77 range. Fading CH at 75-76 mph. Collected whiffs in zone, strikes present.

2026 RHP Garrett Shapiro (Millville) is committed to Rutgers university. Shapiro has a lean frame at 6 foot 1” 150LBs. He has a true SL shape with a good feel for spin. CH has heavy arm side action. Good three pitch mix with distinct pitch shape differentials.

2027 RHP Finnian O’Loughlin (Delbarton) is currently ranked No.1 in the class. He is an explosive athlete on both sides of the ball. His best tool to date is his arm. He has the ability to throw hard on the mound and in the OF. It’s a loose throw. When it comes to pitching he throws a SL in the low 70’s metrically it has 4.1 IVB and -12.7 HM. Has high spin and good horizontal break.

2028 RHP James Fenton (Metuchen) is a lean and ultra projectable arm. The FB is in a really good spot for a freshman. Sits 81-84 with extension out front. The breaking ball is developing but he does have a good CH. Name to keep tabs on as he continues to climb in velo and strength departments.

2027 RHP Michael Fekete (Cherry Hill East) has a physical build. With each look Fekete continues to add strength. Has a loose, long arm swing. Starter potential. FB currently is 84-86 but creeps into the upper 80’s. Feel for 2 secondaries. The best pitch at the moment is his CVB it has 11/5 action and picks up whiffs. Deception present.

2027 RHP Jackson Hornick (Central Bucks West, PA) is a brute strength right hander. Strong build with ability to coil and hold it down the mound. Gets down the mound with conviction. FB: 85-88 with arm side run. (IVB 18 / HM 13.9). CB: 75-76 (IVB 0.9 / HM -11.2). 11/5 break.

2026 RHP Lizandro Perez (Rutgers Prep) is a lean athletic mover. His FB has ride up in the zone at 86-88 with (IVB 20 / HM 5.3) with spin of 2500. The SL has downer action which plays off the FB well (IVB -8.7 / HM -13.4) and his 3rd pitch is a CB that has similar traits as the SL just throws it slower at 68-69. Innate feel for spin at 2600-2700 rpms.

2027 RHP Nick Malinowski (Barnegat) is physical for the class. A name to know as the velo climbs. He had a great showing at the TPG's, showcasing the ability to pick up in zone whiffs. Picking up K's. Has a 3 pitch mix. FB: 84-85 (IVB 20.9 / HM 4.6). CB 70-73 (IVB -2.1 / HM -16.1). CH 79 (IVB 9.2 / HM 11.5). Has ability to manipulate spin and throw his secondaries for strikes.

2027 3B Joey Dimeo (Toms River East) is a physical kid with major upside. His swing has a big forward move but gets some good pullback with his upper half. His best tool to date is his hit tool.
