Top Performer Spotlight: UMBC recruit '19 Christian Maceda
September 1, 2018 TJ Hunt Director, PBR New Jersey
Scouting Report
NJ State Games 7.24.18 UMBC recruit. Maceda has a lanky, athletic build at 6-foot 170-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 6.66-seconds, which was one of the top times of the entire event. Recorded an exit velocity of 87 MPH. Offensively, Maceda starts in a tall, narrow stance with weight on back side and hands above back shoulder with the bat parallel to the ground. Uses a small toe-tap and stride to start swing. Rhythm in arms and torso in load process, but upper body stays mostly quiet. Creates extension in arms and hands through the zone. The ball jumped off his bat during BP, took one of the best of the event. Creates line drive pop with a flat bat oath and slight uphill finish. Defensively, throws topped at 74 MPH from the outfield. His speed and ease in lateral movements make him a definite centerfielder at the next level. Fields ball out in front and continues through his throws with momentum.
