The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across New Jersey.

 Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Veteran's Field at the NJSIAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview the top teams across NJ.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Coach Paul Urbanovich will be returning 6 regulars from last year's Group II State Championship team which led the state in wins at 28. Guys like Kirk, Kanwisher and Pallone are looking to build off of their strong 2022 seasons. Luke Monico, Aidan McNally, and Christian Badenhausen will see an increased role as they will all slide up in the lineup, expecting to be in run producing roles this year. Sophomore Anthony Irving who saw part time work last year has chance to step into a full time role at 1B and provide depth on the pitching staff. The outfield was the strongest unit last year with Pallone (CF) Kirk (RF) and McNally (LF) covering a lot of ground. Sophomore Brady King has a chance to play corner OF when Kirk and McNally are on the hill. He's an athletic kid that can run and throw. Kanwisher may slide from catcher to SS which is his natural position with Monico (3B) and Badenhausen (2B) providing solid defense. Irving is expected to take over at 1B. Junior Joe Boffa will be looking to take over the catching position. Will Kirk is a true ace on the hill and gives Ramsey a chance to beat anyone. The Rams have the talent to fill out staff behind him, and there will be a lot of competition for the 2nd and 3rd spots in the rotation. Some Freshman may have an opportunity to see some innings on the mound as well. Overall, with the talent returning, expect Ramsey to make another run late in June.
