Last month, Team USA captured its second gold medal in the history of the 15U National Team, which began in 2012 after changes to international programming. Team USA defeated Colombia 9-5 in the Pan American Championship in Mexico and a big reason for the win was 3B Justyn-Henry Malloy (St. Joseph’s Regional HS, NJ), a standout sophomore and the No. 10 prospect in Prep Baseball Report’s 2018 Overall Rankings. Malloy hit .538 (14-for-26) in nine games with two home runs, 11 RBIs and 14 runs scored. His performance earned him MVP honors for the tournament.
Team USA 15U manager Jason Washburn, who is the head coach at College Park HS, TX, spoke highly of Malloy’s upside, but was quick to point out his maturity and leadership.
