West Morris Central vs. Middlesex - 4.14.19

Scouting Report

4.14.19
Maryland recruit. Wiry, athletic 6-foot-3 180-pounds. Potential draft guy this June. Topped at 91, sat mostly 86-88 touching 89. 75-78 11/5 CB for strikes with late late. Long, loose arm action from a high-¾ slot. Slow, methodical start to delivery into a tall, firm balance point. Hips and shoulders close off a touch to lead from hip down the mound. Hands break down his body with uphill shoulders at front foot landing. Lands slightly opened, but finishes balance with momentum and weight toward homeplate. Shows great body control for a lanky hurler. Fastball shows some arm side sink and run. Tough to pick up - a lot of levers and length coming at the hitter.

Holy Spirit vs. Pope John XXIII 4.14.19

Scouting Report

Uncommitted. Athletic frame at 6-feet 175-pounds. This kid can flat out hit. Neutral stance with hands above back shoulder. Small leg lift and stride as hands move down and back slightly. Impressive balance and barrel awareness - smoked two singles that sounded different off the bat.

Scouting Report

4.14.19
Cohen has a lanky frame with room to fill out. Impressive, easy left handed stroke. Neutral stance with hands above back shoulder, uses a leg kick and stride to start swing and hands move up and back effortlessly and fluidly. Explosive hips and hands through the zone - was really impressed with his bat speed for just a freshman. Definite follow.

Scouting Report

4.14.19
Rider recruit. Stock rising for the draft, one of the most under-the-radar players in the state. Fastball sat 88-90, with multiple 89-90s later in his outing when his pitch count was rising. CB showed sharp 11/5 bite at 76-78 and flashed a harder changeup at 82-85. Easy, long and athletic frame and delivery. High-¾ slot with effortless velocity on release. Extends out in front of landing leg with ease and ball explodes out. Final line: 5 IP, 11 K, 3 H, 4 BB. Pitch count was reason for him coming out - defense made 5 errors behind him in 5 innings.

Pascack Hills vs. Bergen Catholic - 4.13.19

Scouting Report

4.13.19
Maryland recruit. One of the state’s top pitchers. Say 86-88 touching 89. Flashed a CB with 1/7 bite at 76-77 and a swing-and-miss changeup at 80-82. Limited Bergen Catholic to 1 hit in 7 innings, fanned 6 and walked one. Smooth, composed delivery into an athletic balance point. Uphill shoulder on front foot landing - effortless high-¾ loose arm action.

Scouting Report

4/13/19

Uncommitted. Athletic frame - leadoff hitter for Bergen Catholic against one of the state’s top teams. Right handed swinger. Wide stance with hands above shoulder and in a slight crouch. Uses a small leg lift and stride to start swing. Hands load up and back. 4.60 down to 1B after slipping a touch in the box after contact.

Scouting Report

4.14.19
Uncommitted. Long, lanky frame at 6-foot-3 170-pounds. Fastball was consistently 85-87 with some arm side run. Flashed two different breaking balls - a true 11/5 curveball at 69-70 and a later, smaller slider at 74-78. Worked primarily out of the stretch, showcased a long, loose arm aciton from a high-¾ slot. Fastball showed some late life and slider shows true swing-and-miss potential and an out pitch at next level. Went pitch-for-pitch with one of the state’s top hurlers, Ryan Ramsey - for 4+ innings. Final line: 4+ IP, 5 H, 2K, 3 BB, 2 HBP.

Don Bosco Prep vs. Northern Highlands 4.13.19

Scouting Report

4.14.19
Uncommitted. Granatell stands at a strong, broad shouldered frame at 5-foot-11 190-pounds. Smoked a long triple off Mike Ruggieri and collected another hard barrel on a single that went up the middle. Quiet approach at the plate with hands starting above his back shoulder and out in front of his body. Uses a small leg lift and stride to start swing as hands move down and back with some fluidity. Short, quick stroke with some line drive pop. Finishes uphill and maintains balance throughout.

Scouting Report

4/13/19

Jaxel has a lean, wiry, and projectable frame at 6-foot-3 180-pounds. Fastball topped at 83 MPH and sat mostly 82-83 in one inning of work in relief. Flashed an 11/5 breaker for strikes at 68-71 MPH and a changeup with some armside fade at 74-78 MPH. Clean, long arm action with little effort, Jaxel showed feel for the bottom-half of the strikezone from a high-3/4 slot. Lands slightly closed and will turn off toward first base side of the rubber on release. Big velocity to follow as he continues to fill out lanky frame.

Scouting Report

4.13.19
Army recruit. Ruggieri stands at a strong, broad shouldered 6-foot-6 245-pounds. Fastball sat 85-86 touching 87-88. Flashed a sharp, sweeping SL at 76-78 for strikes and was used as a strikeout pitch. Also flashed an 83 MPH straight changeup. Up tempo delivery into a tall, athletic balance point. Uphill shoulders coming down the mound, lands closed and throws across body a touch which makes him very difficult to pick up for hitters.

Morristown vs. Delbarton - 4.12.19

Scouting Report

4/12/19

Uncommitted. Montfort stands a lanky, athletic 6-foot-1 185-pounds. Sat consistently 85-86 from a high-¾ and loose arm action. Flashed a 68-69 MPH CB with true top-to-bottom break when thrown well. Command showed well on this day - punched out three Delbarton hitters in 2 innings of work.

Scouting Report

Franklin and Marshall recruit. Crafty lefty that locates well with sneaky velocity at 83-84 consistently. Mixes in a 1/7 CB for strikes at 69-72 and a straight changeup at 70-71. More over-the-top with uphill shoulders going down the mound. Lands opened and continues momentum toward homeplate. A great compliment to an already stacked pitching rotation at Delbarton.

Scouting Report

4.12.19
Uncommitted. Strong, athletic frame. Pounded the strike-zone at 81-83 touching 84 MPH. Located well with a 10/4 CB. Shorty quick arm action from a High-¾ slot. Drop and drive type pitcher from his balance point. Lands on outside of foot slightly, which causes him to finish toward first base side of rubber - but does not affect his command. Held a talented Delbarton lineup at bay -- 5 IP, 2 H, 5 K, 2 BB, 1 HBP.

Wall vs. Ocean Township - 4.11.19

Scouting Report

4/11/19

Florida State recruit. Lean, athletic frame at 5-foot-11 175-pounds. Fastball topped at 90 MPH with the first pitch of the game, and sat comfortably at 87-88 touching 89 a couple times. Showed an 11/5 CB for strikes with swing-and-miss potential at 70-72 and a change at 67 MPH. Slow, methodical start to delivery, into a tall, athletic balance point. Hands go below the belt as he starts then up around his back shoulder as he closes himself off a touch to create some torque just before he descends down the mound. Uphill shoulders at foot strike and a long, loose arm action from a high-¾ slot. Final line: 5 IP, 8 K, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 HBP. Impressive outing against a tough Ocean Township team.
