CUMBERLAND, R.I. - Owen Zadrosny had a lot of interest from Northeastern prior to the Future Games. Following the PBR event the first week of August others jumped on board. Seton Hall, James Madison, Xavier, Stoneybrook, Fordham and Rhode Island had contact with the 6-4 220-pound right-handed pitcher, who had also had interest from Boston College, UMass-Lowell and UMass during the summer. “After the Future Games I got a lot of interest from outside of New England,” noted Zadrosny, a member of Team Connecticut at the event held at Lakepoint Sports Community just north of Atlanta. “There were a lot of good players there and I did pretty well.” Northeastern took notice and interest in the 14th-ranked junior in New England continued. “They talked to me after the Future Games and we got down to it after that,” Zadrosny said. “My offspeed was working at the Future Games and they hadn’t seen that much before. My control was working as well, I was locating and able to hit my spots. They like how I’m able to keep hitters off balance and my pitch ability in different scenarios.” It led to an offer and a commitment from Zadrosny, who had visited the school in late July. “I really like the coaching staff,” said the LaSalle Academy 2021, mentioning recruiting coordinator Nick Puccio in particular. “Coach Puccio is a player’s coach. He’s a young coach that relates well. (Head) Coach (Mike) Glavine knows the game well. It just felt like home there.” Zadrosny pointed to Wade Briggs as playing a big part in his improvement on the mound helping get to this point in the recruiting process. |
