McFadden more than a tall left-handed pitcher

BELMONT, Ma. - “I’m more than a name with a tall figure and a fastball.”

That is how Will McFadden feels about himself as his recruitment picks up with junior year two months in.

The 6-7 left-handed pitcher transferred to Belmont Hill High School this year with hopes of seeing better competition to aid his future.

“I went to a local high school that was in a not-so great league,” explained McFadden, who just turned 17 in July. “Now I’m in a league that rolls out (college) D-I pitchers and bats. I don’t think you can walk on a college campus and pitch if you haven’t faced that.”

Two appearances in the Future Games has helped spark an interest in the eighth-rated junior in New England.

“I’m talking to all sorts of schools from URI (Rhode Island) to North Alabama to Wake Forest,” noted McFadden. “There are southern schools and a handful of northern schools. It all started when I began growing into my body. I really noticed I had the potential to play D-I and obviously I love baseball.

“The Future Games were the two biggest events of my life,” continued McFadden, who played for Team Connecticut/Rhode Island in 2017 and Team Massachusetts this summer. “It’s the best thing I could have done to enhance my baseball future. Every school you can think of was there. It was so enjoyable to play there, it was like the Little League World Series. It was one of the coolest experiences I could have been a part of.”
