2024 Future Games: Team Connecticut - Workout/Gameday Notes

The 13th annual Future Games took place on July 24-28 at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia. Top uncommitted prospects in the classes of 2026 and 2027 participated in one of the most popular events each year.

There were 36 teams, including Team Connecticut, with players representing 43 states plus Canadian prospects. Each team played three games the final three days of the event after all position players are put through a showcase workout on Wednesday, the first day of the Future Games.

More than 300 colleges from across the country were looking on as approximately 500 players participated in this year’s event. This year, more than 450 college coaches from all over the country were in attendance.

The Arms

Matthew Chirumbolo RHP / Salisbury School, CT / 2026

Report: A right-handed pitcher, arm works from a 3/4 slot. Athletic delivery, repeats with ease. Mixed all three pitches, secondary stuff is good. FB: 83-85, CB: 74-75, CH: 73-75

Matthew DeFilippo RHP / Avon Old Farms, CT / 2026

Report: Plus 3/4 slot, arm is quick and fast. Late life to fastball, mixed in a harder slider, with high spin rates. FB: 86-89, SL: 79-82

Jacob Felton RHP / OF / Weston, CT / 2026

Report: A right-handed pitcher, longer, larger athletic frame, with projection. Arm action longer on the backside, working from a higher 3/4 to over the top slot. Put hitters away with a heavy 4-seam fastball, located to glove side with ease. Needs to develop more fastball handspeed with secondary stuff. FB: 84-88, CB: 65-67, CH: 74-75

Ryan Lavender LHP / 1B / Berlin, CT / 2026

Report: A left-handed pitcher, works out of a 3/4 slot. Pitches to glove side at times. Stronger, athletic frame. Showed 2 secondary pitches. FB: 80-84, CB: 67-68, CH: 70-72

Will Margolies LHP / 1B / The Cheshire Academy, CT / 2026

Report: A left-handed pitcher, threw the baseball very well, clean on the backsie, pitches downhill, showed the ability to locate to glove side. Fastball is heavy, breaking ball has some swing and miss action to it. FB: 86-87, CB: 75-76

Brayden Menard RHP / OF / Moses Brown, RI / 2026

Report: A right-handed pitcher, long and lengthy frame, with room for added strength. Arm action is super loose, working from a higher sot, works downhill. Mixed in a harder slider/cutter. FB: 82-84, SL: 75-76

Camden Ogden RHP / Stonington High School, CT / 2026

Report: A right-handed pitcher, stronger, durable athletic frame. The arm action is short and quick on the backside. Fastball is heavy with ride and bore to it. Showed two good breaking balls, curveball to get me over, and put guys away with a slider. Showed the ability to throw both early in count, not afraid to pitch backwards. FB: 86-88, CV: 72-73, SL: 75-76

Nolan Plourde RHP / OF / RHAM High School, CT / 2026

Report: A right-handed pitcher, frame is strong, with tons of projection. The delivery is simple, loaded on the backside, uses the lower half well. The arm action is clean, little longer arm path. The arm works from a high 3/4 slot, pounded the zone with a heavy 4-seam fastball. Mixed in two-secondary pitches, lots to like. FB: 84-86 CB: 73-76

Matthew Shea RHP / SS / Westminster, CT / 2026

Report: A right-handed pitcher, super smoooth delivery, free and easy arm action, whip and life to it. The fastball sat at 85 mph, loacted to both sides. Pounded the zone with three pitches, showed a swing and miss changeup. FB: 84-85, CB: 74-75, CH:73-74

Landon Sumner RHP / Chariho High School, RI / 2026

Report: A right-handed pitcher, simple delivery, from a hybrid start. More of a drop and drive approach, shows ride and bore to fastball, soild two-pitch combination of fastball/Slider. FB: 83-85, Sl: 75-76

The Infielders

Rocco DeMaio III SS / RHP / Hopkins, CT / 2026

Report: Left-handed hitter, middle to pull side approach, quiet setup, simple down path to the baseball, drove it well to the right-center gap. A good runner, ran a sub 7 sixty-yard dash. 

Carter Heagle 1B / RHP / Canterbury Academy , CT / 2026

Report: A right-handed hitter, physical frame, pull power approach. Showed strength with the bat. A right-hnaded pitcher, loose and quick arm, life and sink to fastball

Eliot Kwan 3B / RHP / Fairfield Ludlowe High School, CT / 2026

Report: A right-handed hitter, super relaxed and balanced, loose hands, level path to and through the baseball. Both rounds of batting practice were solid with hard contact. An averge runner. 

Cael Loria SS / 2B / Xavier, CT / 2026

Report: A right-handed hitter, higher hand set, downward level path, hard contact with line drives and power groundballs. Moves extremely well, twitching actions and movements, sub 7 runner.

Owen Palmer 3B / RHP / The Taft School, CT / 2026

Report: A left-handed hitter, balanced setup, showed plus pop to right-center field gap, lift and loft to the swing. Advance feel to get the barrel to the baseball. 

Jack Treat 1B / OF / Montville, CT / 2026

Report: A left-handed hitter, advance feel and approach, sprays the baseball all over the yard. Simple and repeats with ease. A plus defender at first base.

Brandon Venditto SS / RHP / North Kingstown, RI / 2026

Report: A right-handed hitter, pull aproach with pop. The swing and barrel have whip and life to them. Athletic, physical and strong, ran a sub 7 sixty-yard dash. 

Gianni Vora SS / 3B / CHOATE ROSEMARY HALL, CT / 2026

Report: A right-handed hitter, strong, physical frame. Plus pop to pull side, solid round of batting practice. Balanced setup and approach, chance to be an offensive infielder. 

Owen Widger 3B / 1B / Southington High School, CT / 2026

Report: A left-handed hitter, serious whip and life to the bat. Sprays the baseball all over the yard, advance approach with pop.

The Outfielders

Logan Fesh OF / LHP / Bethel High School, CT / 2026

Report: Left-handed hitter, super smooth in box, loose hands, good path to and through the baseball. Line drives to the middle part of the field, with some pull pop. An above average defender, can really throw it from the outfield. 

Aaron Rich OF / RHP / Lyman Hall, CT / 2026

Report: A right-handed hitter, extremely twitchy and electric. Life and whip to the barrel. A plus runner, can go get it in the outfield, a toolsy athlete.

Lucas Tanous C / 3B / Barrington High School, RI / 2026

Report: A right-handed hitter, loose hands, with a level path through the zone. The barrel shows whip to it, middle of the field approach. An above average runner ran a sub 7 sixty-yard dash. 

The Catchers

Monty Gantz C / OF / Westminster School, RI / 2026

Report: A right-handed hitter, simple balanced approach, flat set up, level path, pull side pop, took a solid round of batrting practice. Hard contact throughout. Shows an above average arm from behind the plate. 

Logan Martel C / 1B / Canterbury School, CT / 2026

Report: A monster left-handed hitter, big time power to pull side, lift and loft to the swing. Aggressive advanced approach. Arm strenth is above average from behind the plate.
