2024 Future Games: Team Connecticut - Top Performers

The 13th annual Future Games took place on July 24-28 at LakePoint in Emerson, Georgia. Top uncommitted prospects in the classes of 2026 and 2027 participated in one of the most popular events each year.

There were 36 teams, including Team Connecticut, with players representing 43 states plus Canadian prospects. Each team played three games the final three days of the event after all position players are put through a showcase workout on Wednesday, the first day of the Future Games.

More than 300 colleges from across the country were looking on as approximately 500 players participated in this year’s event. This year, more than 450 college coaches from all over the country were in attendance.

Overall MVP

Carter Heagle 1B / RHP / Canterbury Academy, CT / 2026

Report: Balanced approach at the plate. Collected multiple hits and multiple RBI.

Best Pitching Performance

Matthew DeFilippo RHP / Avon Old Farms, CT / 2026

Report: Pounded the zone with a two-pitch mix, puting hitter away with ease.

Jacob Felton RHP / OF / Weston, CT / 2026

Report: Pitched two clean innings, running the fastball up to 88 mph.

Will Margolies LHP / 1B / The Cheshire Academy, CT / 2026

Report: Showed extremely well, pitched two solid innings, controlling hitters, was able to put them away with either the Fastball or Slider.

Best In Game Hitting Performance

Carter Heagle 1B / RHP / Canterbury Academy, CT / 2026

Report: Collected multiple hits through the tournament, including a triple.

Best Workout Day Hitter

Owen Widger 3B / 1B / Southington High School, CT / 2026

Report: A left-handed hitter, serious whip and life to the bat. Sprays the baseball all over the yard, advance approach with pop.

Best In Game Defender

Logan Fesh OF / LHP / Bethel High School, CT / 2026

Report: Tracked all fly balls in game play, making multiple throws to the bases, on target, great feel for the outfield.

Best Workout Day Defender

Cael Loria SS / 2B / Xavier, CT / 2026

Report: Great mover in the infield, can play all 3 spots, with plenty of arm from left-side.
