2021 Junior Future Games: Team Massachusetts - Top Performers
Team Massachusetts went down to Georgia and showed out amongst some of the top uncommitted prospects in the nation.
Team Mass may not have logged a lot of wins but this team showcased a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. Maybe the best prospect in the group was 2025 RHP/OF Leo Boucher. The New Hampshire native pitched the first day showing a live fastball that got up to 85 MPH, while flashing a slider with good bite. Boucher also swings the bat and plays an athletic outfield. Another guy that really impressed, was the youngest guy on the team, 2026 C/3B Hudson Schmidt. Schmidt showed advanced actions behind the plate, to go along with a quick stroke at the plate. Finally, 2025 OF Danny Flynn. The left handed hitter has a great approach at the plate and covers a lot of ground in the outfield.
Overall MVP
Cole Mullen
Report: Mullen was a pivotal guy on the mound for Team Mass. The young right-hander made two appearances, where he pounded the zone with a fastball that topped out at 80 MPH with arm side run. He also mixed in a good changeup and a breaking ball with good shape. Mullen also showed he’s an athletic defender at third base and put together great at bats at the plate.
Best Pitching Performance
Liam Daily
Report: Daily came in relief on Sunday and went three innings, giving up just three hits with 5 punchouts. The right hander located to all parts of the zone and mixed speeds well.
Best In Game Hitting Performance
Connor Mudd
Report: Mudd had two hits in a couple games for Team Massachusetts. The first against Alabama, then again against Wisconsin on Sunday.
Best In Game Defender
Matt Hall
Report: Hall showed off his versatility, playing on the left side of the infield and moving behind the plate for Team Massachusetts. Hall has athletic actions, good range and a solid arm at short and third base. Hall also moved behind the plate and showed soft hands, good feet and blocks well.
Best Workout Day Defender
Bradley McCafferty
Report: McCafferty is a talented athlete at both short and behind the plate. The catch and throw skills are athletic behind the plate. In the infield, there’s clean actions and shows range to both sides.
