PBR Scouting Report: 6-foot-3, 215 pound two-way player ran a 7.2 60 yard sprint. Strong lean durable frame. At the plate, square stance, high hands, long slightly uphill swing plane. Showed some pop to the pull side. In the field, playable feet and hands. Fields the ball out front and throws from a buggy whip ¾ arm action. Some stiffness with actions. On the mound, has repeatable mechanics. Flies open on his front side. Arm has a tendency to drag on the backside. Long finish out front. Fastball has good height on a downhill plane. 70-73 mph breaking ball has tight spin and good depth across two planes. Showed feel for his 70-72 mph changeup with a heavy sinking action
PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?
Mahoney: I have received a few emails, texts and/or game visits from schools like Azusa, Manhattan Christian and UNO.
PBR: Is there a favorite at this point in the process?
Mahoney: I am keeping my options open. Although, I would like the opportunity to talk with Grand Canyon University.
PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)
Mahoney: I am interested in attending a school that offers Sports Management and/or Sport
s Medicine.
PBR: What were some of your highlights during your junior year?Mahoney: My Junior year was a lot of fun. I lead the state with a .556 batting average and I was named for the Triple Crown Award for placing in the top five in batting, rbi's and home runs.
PBR: What are your goals for this year?
Mahoney: My goal this year is to maintain my batting average, have fun and lead my team to State!
PBR: Do you play any other sports?
Mahoney: I play DE / OLB and TE for Concordia Varsity Football.
PBR: What is your ACT and GPA?
Mahoney: Currently my GPA is 3.2. I will take the John Baylor in November and ACT test in December
