PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?
MITCHELL: Tulane has a new coaching staff. They are energetic and excited to advance the program to new limits. I feel that they can groom me into a great player. It is a southern school where I can play year round. Tulane is located in a great city and has a great academic reputation. Their conference, the AAC, is one of the best for college baseball.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
MITCHELL: I attended a prospect camp in early August. Our high school team had just finished the season, and I was gearing up for football. I felt that I was at the top of my skills, because we had just finished playing in state. At the camp, I pitched and hit really well. They provided me with a lot of instruction as a position player and pitcher. I could tell that with the concepts they were teaching me, it was going to be a great learning environment. I'm impressed with their dedication.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
MITCHELL: Yes, it's nice to just focus on baseball, and not worry about the recruiting process. Right after the camp, we began football practice. I have always played 2 or 3 sports. I think it's going to help just focusing on baseball.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
MITCHELL: I felt that the Tulane coaching staff really cared about me as a person and saw my potential. I feel that they are excited to develop me.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today? 
MITCHELL: My dad has always encouraged me and has been available to help me practice either him or by getting the best instructors around the area to advance my baseball skills.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
MITCHELL: The Tulane coaching staff feels that I can be a two way player. I think they're going to give me every opportunity to contribute as a hitter and position player, as well as a left handed pitcher.
