Name: Zac Zagozda
Position: LHP
Class: 2016
Height/Weight: 5-foot-10, 175-pound
High School: Creighton Prep
Commitment: Nebraska-Omaha
PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?
ZAC: I chose UNO because they are a growing program that has won the Summit twice in the last 5 years, and now that they are D-1 postseason eligible, it gives me an opportunity to possibly compete in a regional.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
ZAC: I was considering Creighton, and Dartmouth.
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
ZAC: Coach Herold said he first saw me my sophomore year, and junior year he learned I had interest in the program, and he would come to most of my games, and speak to me over text consistently, and that is where the relationship developed.
PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
ZAC: Yes, it's a comforting feeling to have my college decision out of the way, and I can focus on helping my team get to Shelby.
PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
ZAC: The deciding factor was definitely the coaching staff, UNO has a great pitching coach that is left-handed, and I thought it would be nice to finally be coached by a lefty, and to be around a great group of coaches overall
PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
ZAC: The people who have most helped me are my father, my teammates, and my pitching coach, Jerry Wellwood.
ZAC: I thought the recruiting process was going to be much more hectic, I thought teams would give me a deadline to commit, but there was none of that. After my visit to UNO it was clear where I wanted to be, so overall the process was easy.
PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
ZAC: The coaches expect me to play a role in the pitching staff, but I’m ready to compete whenever the opportunity presents itself.
PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
ZAC: The best player I have pitched against has to be Logan Foster. He is always a tough out, he has power to all sides of the field, and rarely swings at bad pitches or anything out of the zone, also a threat a run whenever he is on base.
