PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?
JOHNSON: I chose hutch because of the opportunity to start right away and the coaching staff there were really great knowledgeable people making it feel like I belonged there and I knew that I could develop into a much better player if I go there.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
JOHNSON: The other schools that I was considering were St. Cloud State, Nebraska, Johnson County CC, Central Arizona CC and Garden City CC.
 
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
JOHNSON: Hutch first saw me play during the summer at one of my teams home games. A few months later they contacted me and the recruiting process just went up from there. It was an amazing experience to get down to Hutch and visit and meet the staff and see the great facilities.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
JOHNSON: Oh yes, it felt like a huge weight was lifted off of my shoulders and all of the stress just went away and made everything so much easier.
 
PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
JOHNSON: Yes, the number one factor for me in this decision was the opportunity to come in and start right away and make an impact. The other factor was the knowledgeable coaching staff and the confidence that they had in me to give me this opportunity.
 
PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
JOHNSON: Definitely my parents. They've put a lot of time money and effort to get me to where I am today. They are the reason I'm the type of person and player I am and they've supported me on all of the traveling to play top talent and they've pushed me to become the best player that I can possibly be.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
JOHNSON: At first I didn't really know what to expect. It was a confusing adventure but the coaches that wanted you made it obvious that they wanted you. They get down to business right away and want you to get down to the college ASAP; that's when you knew that they were really interested.
 
PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
JOHNSON: It was really clear on the plans that Hutch had in store for me. They wanted an advanced catcher who is able to be the leader and perform really well on the field so they chose me to come in and and give me the opportunity to come and start right away.
 
PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
JOHNSON: Being named an Under Armor Preseason All-American and competing and playing against the top high school players in Jupiter, Florida for 3 years in the WWBA World Championships.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
JOHNSON: I've played against many unbelievable players in my high school career but the number one player that I’ve played with and against is Cole Stobbe who is committed to Arkansas and was a PG All-American.
