Nebraska Elite 50: 2020 & 2021 Infield Reports

Prep Baseball Report Nebraska's Elite 50 event took place on Sunday, May 20, 2018. The event was held at Westside High School in Omaha, NE. The event featured select prospects from the 2019, 2020 and 2021 grad classes; and included many breakout performances from the player's in attendance. Players showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and college coaches; while also playing 14 innings.
There were a number of great individual performances this year at the PBR NE Elite 50.
As we drill down into the statistics: (40 players in attendance)
+ 30 players ran sub-7.2 60's.
+ 27 players recorded 85+ mph exit velocities
+ 13 players recorded 80+ mph infield throws
+ 11 players recorded 80+ mph outfield throws
+ 6 catchers recorded 70+ mph throws to second base
+ 6 catchers recorded sub-2.1 pop times
+ 19 pitchers were 80+ mph on the mound

Garrett Anglim 3B / OF / Papillion LaVista, NE / 2020Rankings StateRank: 7 / POS: 1
6-foot, 175 pound infielder ran a 6.83 60 yard sprint. Ranked #7 in the Nebraska 2020 rankings. Athletic build. Took the top round of BP at the event. Middle/pull side approach, consistently barreled the baseball, always on time. Looseness in hands. Posted an exit velocity of 88 mph off a tee. Corner actions in the infield, works through the ball, pie arm action that topped out at 84 mph across the infield. Went 1-3 during the game portion of the Elite 50.

Max Anderson SS / 2B / Millard West, NE / 2020Rankings StateRank: 3 / POS: 2
6-foot, 180 pound infielder ran a 6.76 60 yard sprint. Ranked #3 in Nebraska 2020 rankings. Quiet approach, quick hands, ability to consistently barrel up baseballs to all fields. Posted an 92 mph exit velocity off a tee. Advanced polished actions in the infield, feet work through the ball, arm has carry and accuracy, topped out at 88 mph across the infield. Went 2-5 in game action with a single and a double. Hit .370 this spring with three home runs and 25 RBIs. Top level prospect in the infield and at the plate for the 2020 class in Nebraska.

Brady Bell SS / RHP / Lincoln East, NE / 20216-foot,180 pound two way player ran a 7.01 60 yard sprint. Mature build for age. Hitchy load, generates solid bat speed and shows the ability to find the barrel consistently to the baseball. Pull side contact. Posted an 90 mph exit velocity off a tee. Went 3-4 at the plate during the game portion with two singles and a double. On the mound, topped out at 84 mph with his fastball. Short arm action, slight run and sink, works bottom of the zone well. Breaking ball was elevated, 11/5 shape. Fastball arm speed on change up with slight fading action.

Trey Frahm SS / OF / Elkhorn, NE / 20205-foot-10, 175 pound infielder ran a 6.94 60 yard sprint. Ranked #2 in the Nebraska 2020 rankings. Athletic build with present strength in lower half. Pull side power at the plate, short to contact with barrel control. Line drive and fly ball contact during round of BP. Posted an 91 mph exit velocity off a tee. Went 1-3 at the plate during game action of the Elite 50. Easy actions in the infield, athletic movements, sure hands, top arm we’ve seen at the PBR Nebraska event that topped out at 90 mph across. Hit .395 with 24 RBI at the varsity level this past spring.

Tristan Gomes 1B / 3B / MIllard West, NE / 2020Rankings StateRank: 8 / POS: 1
6-foot-4, 190 pound corner infielder ran a 6.97 60 yard sprint. Ranked #8 in the Nebraska 2020 rankings. Long lean athletic frame. Hook contact, gap to gap approach, uses long levers to produce sneaky pop to his pull side. Smooth repeatable movements. Posted an 85 mph exit velocity off a tee. Went 1-3 with a triple in his plate appearance at the Elite 50. Hit .355 with 22 hits at the varsity level this spring. Above avg. actions in the infield, easy movements, hands play out front, low ¾ arm slot that topped out at 74 mph across the infield. High follow left handed bat in the 2020 class for Nebraska.

Noah Greise 3B / C / Millard South, NE / 2020Rankings StateRank: 11 / POS: 3
5-foot-11, 180 pound infielder ran a 7.02 60 yard sprint. Ranked #11 in Nebraska 2020 class. Athletic build with developing strength throughout. At the plate, pull side approach, deep barrel path, spray contact, above average pop in bat, hardest balls hit where to the middle of the field during round of BP. Posted an 88 mph exit velocity. Went 0-2 with two walks during the game portion of the event. Hit .309 with 7 double, 3 triples, and 3 home runs this past spring at the varsity level. In the infield topped out at 80 mph across, actions to stay at a corner stop. Feet and hands work out front.

Jett Janssen RHP / 3B / Lincoln East, NE / 2020Rankings StateRank: 22 / POS: 7
6-foot-4, 200 pound two way player ran a 7.25 60 yard sprint. Ranked #22 in Nebraska 2020 class. Large frame. Middle/away approach at the plate, avg. bat speed, line drive contact to the middle of the field. Constant contact during round of BP. Posted an 87 mph exit velocity off a tee. On the mound topped out at 81 mph with his fastball. Short arm action with late running running action on his fastball to the arm side. Wobbly shape on breaking ball with avg. feel for the strike zone. Project-able frame and arm to follow in the 2020 class.

Hunter Scruggs C / 1B / Papillion LaVista, NE / 2020Rankings StateRank: 20 / POS: 3
6-foot, 225 pound right handed hitting first baseman ran a 7.27 60 yard sprint. Physical build. Ranked #20 in the Nebraska 2020 class. Above average pop at the plate from the right side, clean to contact, gap to gap approach, consistent ability to barrel baseballs during round of BP. Posted an 92 mph exit velocity off a tee. Went 1-1 with three walks during the game portion of the Elite 50. Hit .376 with 9 double and 29 RBIs this spring. At first base, avg. actions. Feet are active, long 3-4 arm action that topped out at 77 mph across the infield.
