HIGH SCHOOL DRAFT 100 PROSPECTS
NONE
OTHERS TO WATCH: RHP Colby Gomes (Millard West HS, NE) is an athletic prospect with a 6-foot-5, 205-pound frame and broad shoulders. Enduring a colder spring than usual, Gomes’ velocity continued to improve as the season progressed, topping out at 94 mph in the state tournament and sitting 90-92. He has a long, loose arm action with natural arm-side run. His 78-81 breaking ball has wipeout potential when he gets on top of the ball. He also showed a changeup in the 74-80 range. He is committed to Nebraska. LHP Kyle Perry (Millard South HS, NE) has been one of the more dominant arms the last three years with a fastball creeping into the 88-89 range. He has an athletic frame at 6 feet, 180 pounds with advanced ability to spin his 72-76 breaking ball. SS/RHP Shay Schanaman (Grand Island HS, NE), a Nebraska recruit, has been on the radar thanks to his all-around tools and gap-to-gap potential at the plate. He also has the fallback of moving to the mound where he sits 86-90 and has a tight slider at 78-81.
