PBR: Why did you choose South Dakota State?
I chose SDSU because the coaches really made me feel at home and they made it clear I was one of their top priorities as a player.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Some of the other schools I considered were Ohio, Augustana and Hutchinson CC.
PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
The first time SDSU saw me was the fall of my Sophmore year when I went up there for a prospect camp. I threw pretty well at the scrimmage and they said we will be in touch. I was then invited to go to and unofficial visit in November and I was impressed by the staff and facilities they offered. They were very impressed by the work I put in just the short amount of time and the physical gains I made and were even more interested than before.
PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
The one deciding factor was that they did everything they said they would. When I took the unofficial visit in November they stated I’d need to take an academic visit which I did and a bunch of other things would need to fall into place to get an offer. All of which happened and they put out a great offer for me to play there.
PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
The person that has helped me the most would probably be my dad. Growing up I pretty much had the drive to work hard but struggled finding the people to work with but my dad always helped me with my pitching mechanics and taught me a lot of the stuff I know today and would not be close to where I am now without him.
PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
From talks with Coach Bishop he sees me as a guy who will play a major role in my first season there and be able to help the team right away.
PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
My most memorable would be my first varsity win against gross. A week before I got the call that I’d be playing with varsity for the first time. The next week I threw almost a complete game to get my team the win.
PBR: Who is the best player you have competed against?
The best player I’ve played against is probably Drew Christo I think he is a really good well rounded player and a tough opponent.
