PBR MN Fall Review- Catcher Evaluations

The PBR MN Fall Review event took place on Sunday, October 21, 2018. The event was held at the West St. Paul Athletic Center in West St. Paul, MN.
The event was exclusive to 2019, 2020, 2021 & 2022 grads who participated in the last Prep Baseball Report Minnesota event of the fall.
Players showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and college coaches in attendance. Thank you to the players, parents, my staff; along with the staff at the West St. Paul Athletic Center for such a great event.
There were a number of great individual performances this year at the PBR MN Fall Review event.

CATCHER EVALUATIONS (alpha)
Drew Cruikshank, C, Chanhassen, 2021
5-foot-6, 130-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.40 runner. Smaller size and body. Upright square stance. Hand load back and leg lift into stride. Decent swing plane with a short finish. Pull swing with mainly ground ball and line drive contact. Lower half gets through swing well. 65 mph exit velocity. C- Well balanced. Handles pitches well. Light on feet with ability to block. Glove works too high at times. Disconnect between upper and lower half on throws. Longer exchange with short arm action. 2.28-2.40 pop times. 65 mph arm strength with average carry and inconsistent throws. IF- Feet can be slow to ball. Fields ball deep. Short arm action with on target throws. 60 mph arm strength with below average carry.
Logan Fragomeni, C/RHP, Wayzata, 2021
6-foot-1, 188-pound left-handed hitting two-way player. 7.97 runner. Open relaxed stance. Leg lift and shoulder load. Decent hands and inside out swing plane. Opposite field approach with mainly line drive and ground ball contact. Inconsistent barrel contact. 83 mph exit velocity. C- Balanced squared stance. Glove works high to low and will stab at ball to receive. Below average blocker. Decent exchange and direction with feet. 2.06-2.17 pop times. 71 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy. On Mound- Balanced delivery and gather and go down mound. Shorter stride and stays tall through release. Throws from ¾ arm slot. Fastball is 73-75 mph with slight cut action. Curveball has 11/5 break with ok shape at 63-65 mph. Change-up sits 67-68 mph with stiff arm action and slight run and sink.
Carson Funk, C, Chanhassen, 2019
6-foot, 175-pound left-handed hitting catcher. 7.39 runner. Good frame. Balanced squared stance with low hand set. Leg lift and hand load up. Aggressive swing. Hand work down to contact. Swing can be stiff at times. Mid/pull approach with line drive contact. Average barrel. 85 mph exit velocity. C- Slightly angled balance set up. Glove works low to high. Ok feet and average blocking. Ok exchange and stands straight up. Good direction on throws. 2.15-2.23 pop times. 75 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy. IF- Ok glove and funnels to field. Feet can be slow to ball. Decent arm action. 78 mph arm strength with good accuracy and average carry.
Jack Hedlund, C, Eden Prairie, 2020
5-foot-10, 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.20 runner. Strong body with squared stance. Leg lift and hand load back. Ok swing and could be more aggressive with lower half. Mid/pull approach with mainly ground ball contact. Flashes pop in barrel. 86 mph exit velocity. C- Good balanced stance. Average receiver and loses pitches at times. Feet can get heavy to block and will rely on glove. Good exchange and transfer with feet. Longer arm action. 2.00-2.22 pop times. 70 mph arm strength with fading carry and accuracy.
Sam Hunt, C, St. Louis Park, 2021
6-foot-2, 190-pound switch-hitting catcher. 7.20 runner. Vanderbilt commit and ranked #54 overall in the PBR 2021 class. Physical presence. Squared balanced stance from both sides of plate. Small leg lift and hand load back. Smooth swing and easy bat speed. Gap to gap approach with line drive contact. Consistent contact and flashes pop in barrel. 84 mph exit velocity. C- Big body and well balanced. Good glove and works low to high. Average overall blocker. Clean exchange and good direction. Short arm action. 1.91-2.11 pop times. 77 mph arm strength with good carry and accuracy. IF- Decent actions. Good glove and fields ball out in front. Quick short arm action. 79 mph arm strength with good carry and accuracy.
Caleb Jamieson, C, West Fargo (ND), 2020
5-foot-10, 150-pound left-handed hitting catcher. 7.39 runner. Crouched open stance. Leg lift trigger and hand load back. Off balance at times and swing can get stiff. Middle approach with ground ball to fly ball contact. Consistent contact with average barrel. 79 mph exit velocity. C- Well balanced and glove works low to high. Keeps body square when blocking. Overall, good receiver. Good direction on throws. Feet and exchange can be long. 2.12-2.28 pop times. 68 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.
Caden Klebba. C, Centennial, 2022
5-foot-7, 155-pound right-handed hitting two-way player. 7.83 runner. Athletic open stance. Hands load down and back into stride. Tends to come off back side early. Longer swing and lifts barrel through swing. Pull approach with line drive contact. Above average barrel contact. 80 mph exit velocity. C- Well balanced set-up. Lite feet and moves well laterally. OK blocking. Will get stronger receiving the older he gets. Good direction on throws. OK exchange and longer arm action. 2.07-2.14 pop times. 70 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy. On Mound- Balanced and repeatable delivery. Throws from high ¾ arm slot. Fastball is straight and thrown at 71-72 mph. Curveball has 11/5 break with average shape and spin at 60-62 mph. Change-up has some push to release thrown at 62-63 mph.
Mark Klimek, C, Tartan, 2020
5-foot-10, 155-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.37 runner. Open upright stance. Rhythm in hand load back with stride to start. Stays on back side through swing. Hands work and are short to contact. Flat swing plane and short finish. Mid/pull approach with ground ball to fly ball contact. Inconsistent barrel with 76 mph exit velocity. C- Narrow balanced stance. Can stick pitches but also can come out of stance to receive. Moves ok to block. Good direction with feet on throws. Exchange can be a little long. 2.09-2.27 pop times. Solid arm action. 76 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.
Adam Marshall. C. Rochester Mayo, 2021
5-foot-11, 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 8.12 runner. Narrow slightly open stance. Body load and rhythm in hands. Strides to square. Swing has some length to contact. Slight arm bar at times. Middle of field approach with ground ball to fly ball contact. Lots of movement in swing. 80 mph exit velocity. C- Narrow stance and quick feet. Receives ball well and ability to stick pitches. Glove works high to low. Above average blocker. Longer exchange and foot work on throws. 2.25-2.43 pop times. 65 mph arm strength with average accuracy and below average carry.
Daniel Marxen, C, Maple Grove, 2019
6-foot-1, 195-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.40 runner. Strong body. Shoulder width square stance. Leg lift and hands load back. Decent swing plane. Some stiffness through swing and short finish at times. Pull approach with line drive and fly ball contact. Average contact with flashes of pop in barrel. 88 mph exit velocity. C- Good balance and glove works low to high. Will stick pitches. Average blocker. Ok exchange. Longer arm action. 2.03-2.28 pop times. 73 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.
Carter Mulcahy, C, Perham, 2020
5-foot-10, 160-pound right handed hitting catcher. 7.46 runner. Squared balanced stance with high hand set. Small stride and hands load back to start. Decent hands. Slight arm bar at times that leads to longer path to contact. Swing path can be Inside out at times. Mid/oppo approach with mainly fly ball contact. 81 mph exit velocity. C- Angled stance and sticks ball well. Can lose pitches at times arm side when receiving. Good direction on feet. Longer transfer and exchange. 2.14-2.21 pop times. 71 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy.
Jordan Page, C, Robbinsdale Armstrong, 2020
5-foot-11, 130-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. 7.14 runner. Shoulder width squared stance. Leg lift and hands load back. Slight arm bar with length to contact. Flat swing plane. Middle of field approach with ground ball to fly ball contact. 76 mph exit velocity. OF- Moves athletically to field. Feet work through release. Quick release. Good glove and fields through ball. Uses body well to throw. 82 mph arm strength with good accuracy and average carry. C- Average balance and blocker. Added strength with help receiving. Added strength will help overall.
Michael Savarin, C, Onalaska (WI), 2021
5-foot-9, 147-pound left-handed hitting catcher. 7.22 runner. Squared stance with high hand set. Hands load back with small body load. Swing plane works down to contact. Mid/pull approach with ground ball and line drive contact. Tends to spin with body creating barrel to come around contact. 71 mph exit velocity. C- Average balance and blocking. Glove tends to move with pitch when receiving. Good direction with feet on throws. Ok exchange and short arm action. 2.15-2.22 pop times. 70 mph arm strength with average accuracy and carry.
Nick Trucke, C, Watertown-Mayer, 2020
6-foot, 160-pound right-handed hitting catcher. 7.22 runner. Open upright stance. Body and hand load with rhythm. Leg lift trigger and strides to square. Smooth swing and good hands. Solid bat plane. Middle of field approach with line drive and fly ball contact. Consistent barrel with decent bat speed. 85 mph exit velocity. C- Angled balanced stance. Good hands and glove work low to high. Moves ok laterally to block. OK exchange with longer footwork to release. 2.17-2.26 pop times. 71 mph arm strength with average carry and accuracy. IF- Ok actions. Feet work around baseball to field. Good hands and fields ball clean. Decent arm action. 71 mph arm strength with good carry and accuracy.
