Uncommitted Senior Spotlight: Brendan Layne

Players, as people, develop at different rates.  We see players at the age of 13 that look like grown me, having to shave twice a day.  On the other end of the spectrum would be a Senior in high school who is still going through his maturation and is fun to dream about what he could become. Brendan Layne (2024, CE Jordan HS, OF) fits the later profile.  At 6-foot-1, 160 pounds, Layne will handle strength gains and look for the weight and strength level to jump as he gets into a college program.  Layne has quickness, running a 3.96 thirty yard split, and he should see his overall speed continue to develop with his strength levels.  Offensively, a right handed hitter, Layne works from a wide base with a simple load, rocking back.  He is flat through the ball and has shown gap strength.  There is a school that will be very happy over the next couple of years as Layne begins to approach his ceiling.
