Open IDs give Prep Baseball Scouts a chance to see players from their area while also working to fill out rosters for upcoming regional and national events like the Future Games, Super Sophomore Games, and Top Prospect Games.  The Team Carolina Trials fall under this Open ID forum.  This event at South Mecklenburg HS was a late pop up event, added as a final chance for players to perform for Prep Baseball Scouts.  Several punched their ticket to Lake Point.

The event started with position players going through their athletic testing, including height and weight measurments, a vertical jump, RSI jumps, grip strength testing, and a laser timed 60.  Offensive evaluations were next, including multiple rounds of BP.  BP was followed by defensive evaluations and then pitcher bullpens.

Below we begin to break down the player performances from the workout.  To see the full roster with all of the stats from the workout, you can CLICK HERE.

TrackMan Max Exit Velocity (BP)

During BP, TrackMan tracked ball flight off the bat.  Each hitter took two rounds of BP and TrackMan is able to produce a lot of data on every ball put in play in fair territory.  One element TrackMan is able to produce is the exit velocity.  Below are the top Exit Velocities produced during live BP.

Rank Name State School Class Pos Exit Velocity (max)
1 Cole Blevins NC West Rowan High 2026 OF 100.7 mph
2 Jordan Bonner NC Crossroads FLEX 2026 OF 97.9 mph
3 Libardo Santos NC Ledford Senior High 2025 OF 96.2 mph
4 Nic Stutzman NC Stuart W Cramer 2026 RHP 93.9 mph
5 Drew Bria NC Ardrey Kell 2026 SS 93.0 mph

Positional Velocity - Infielders

Infielders were able to workout at shortstop throwing across the infield, or from 1B throwing to 2B and 3B in the pro-style workout.  While the throwing velocity of an infielder does not tell the entire story of their arm strength, it does give us a feel for how different players can compare.  During this drill, we did ask all infielders to work at game speed, making "game-type" plays.

Rank Name State School Class Pos INF Velo
1 Drew Bria NC Ardrey Kell 2026 SS 83
2 Colby Epperly NC Ardrey Kell 2026 1B 78
3 Christopher Short NC South Mecklenburg High School 2025 SS 75

Positional Velocity - Outfielders

Outfielders worked out from right field, making throws to the plate.  Throws were measured by a radar gun to gauge arm strength.  Players were asked to make "game-type" throws on balls hit from a fungo.

Rank Name State School Class Pos OF Velo
1 Jon Fijalkowski NC CHARLOTTE CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL 2025 OF 90
2 Cole Blevins NC West Rowan High 2026 OF 89
^ Libardo Santos NC Ledford Senior High 2025 OF 89
3 Angel Pichardo NC Ledford Senior High 2025 OF 86

Catcher Pop Times & Positional Velocity

In the pro-style workout, catchers workout from behind home plate, making multiple throws to 2B, simulating a stolen base attempt.  Scouts timed each throw from glove to glove, asking the middle infielders to let the ball travel to over the bag.  A radar gun was used to gauge arm strength out of the crouch.

*There were not any catchers that worked out at this event.

TrackMan Info - Pitcher Bullpens

Pitchers threw a controlled bullpen, showcasing their full arsenal of pitches. Velocity and spin rate information was gathered off of the TrackMan. TrackMan analytics are the official analytics and the velocities below were captured by TrackMan.
