Senior Future Games: North Carolina Players - Workout Day

Brandon Hall
NC / Mid-ATL Director of Scouting

From Wednesday, July 24, through Sunday, July 28, Prep Baseball is hosting the next edition of its prestigious Future Games at LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, Ga., featuring the country's best uncommitted talent. And, for the first time ever, the Future Games is hosting not just its typical set of incoming juniors and freshmen, but also a 17U division of uncommitted Class of 2025 players who will participate in the inaugural Senior Future Games.

On the first day of the 2024 Future Games, all players representing grad classes 2025, 2026, and 2028 will be participating in a pro-style workout in front of a fleet of Division I coaches alongside fellow prospects representing nearly every state in the nation.

Today we take a look at some of the top performances from workout day with Team Mid-Atlantic's North Carolina players. These players took part in the Sr. Future Games and several players put up eye popping numbers.  North Carolina was well represented by this group of players.

TEAM MID-ATLANTIC WORKOUT DAY

Reed Benamati OF / RHP / Northwest Guilford High, NC / 2025

Big time runner that is just beginning to figure how to use the tool.  Tons of room to his ceiling and he is already changing games with the run tool.  Ran a 6.50 and paired that with an absurd 38.3in vertical jump.  The swing has strength and quickness as he begins to get more and more direct.  Top Exit velocity at 93.7mph.

Bennett Baldassarre 1B / C / Providence, NC / 2025

Physical presence with defined strength in the frame.  Proportioned with a tapered waist. Moves fairly well, showing nimble feet at first and the ability to work into the outfield.  Has also caught some in the past year. 97.9 max exit velocity with 72% of his BP swings getting the sweet spot to the ball.

Amare Burrus OF / SS / Durham Academy, NC / 2025

Tools, tools, tools... There is a ton of room to the eventual ceiling as Burrus shows quickness and strength in several phases of the game.  Max exit velocity of 98mph with an average exit across two rounds of BP at 93.8mph.  Checked in with a 6.61 sixty on the laser.

Ryker Butcher C / OF / DH Conley, NC / 2025

North Carolina has had its share of talented catchers roll through in recent years.  The arm on Butcher would stack up with just about any HS backstop we have seen in recent years.  The beauty of the SR Future Games is the 4 day format, with 3 days of games, and aggressive offensive players.  The arm strength, carry, and accuracy were on full display during his workout, but also exceled in the live game action.

Tanner Ferguson SS / 3B / Pro5 Baseball Academy, NC / 2025

Ferguson is a long bodied athlete that just checks a ton of boxes.  He has excellent rhythm and timing on the infield, showing comfort at 3B, SS, and 2B.  In the box, the swing is ready to produce, but it is the future of the bat that is very intriguing.

Vincent Lee 2B / SS / Pro5 Baseball Academy , NC / 2025

Baseball players do baseball things.  Vinny has excellent hands that show quickly on the infield.  During BP, and then in game situations, the hand speed was evident again.  Lee turned a lot of heads as coaches dialed in on his quickness and ability to translate that skill in game situations.
