Prep Baseball Scouts were on hand at Knightdale Park in Knightdale, NC on October 6th for the Prep Baseball Scout Day with SBA Coastal.  Players from the SBA Coastal program in the 2026 - 2028 grad classes went through the workout.  The day began with a laser timed 60 followed by an offensive rotation and evaluation.  TrackMan tracked ball flight throughout the multiple rounds of BP taken on the field.  Following BP, players worked out at their defensive positions.  Pitchers then threw controlled bullpens.

SBA Coastal Scout Day: Speed Leader Board

Prep Baseball Scouts used VALD laser timers for the SBA Coastal Scout Day.  The lasers, setup at 10yd, 30yd, and 60yd intervals gives scouts a feel for prospects top run speed with times at each split. Below are some of the leaders produced by VALD's timing system.

Laser Timed 60yd

10yd Split

Measures the static start, going off the player's first movement out of the laser, through the 10yd marker of his 60yd run.

30yd Split

Measures the static start, going off the player's first movement out of the laser, through the 30yd marker of his 60yd run.

10yd to 30yd Time

Measures the player's time from the 10yd gate to the 30yd gate. Player's are running thorugh the 10yd gate, through the 30yd gate, on their way to the 60 yd gate.  This is a 20yd time with a running start.

30yd to 60yd Time

Measures the player's time from the 30yd gate to the 60yd gate. Player's are running thorugh the 30yd gate, on their way to the 60 yd gate.  This is a 30yd time with a running start.
