NC Player of the Week: Week of March 4 - 9, 2024
March 11, 2024
Throughout the 2024 season Prep Baseball Scouts will be working to track and see as many games and players as possible. Each week the scouting staff will post game coverage, scout blog, player video and more. This will be done in conjunction with Inside the Box, a daily scoreboard with select game and player highlights.
Through all the work to cover high school baseball in North Carolina, our scouting staff will be naming a player and pitcher of the week, each week of the high school regular season. Along with all the games Prep Baseball Scouts will see, cover, and examine, high school coaches will also be able to pass along information on how their players performed. On Friday of each week, this form, will be sent to the high school coaches in North Carolina. All players that are submitted will be considered for Player and Pitcher of the Week.
Coaches can also email Brandon Hall at [email protected] to submit player nominations.
March 4 - 9, 2024 Player of the Week
Pinecrest HS entered last week at No. 17 in the Power 25. Always ambitious, the Patriots play a heavy schedule early in the year and last week they went 3-0 against Terry Sanford, who was No. 19 in the Power 25, Oak Grove, who played for a state title in 2023, and Myers Park, a club sitting just outside the Power 25 this week. Leading the charge was senior INF/RHP Bryant Kimbrell, a Western Carolina commit.
Kimbrell helped the Patriots to the 3-0 week hitting .556 with 3 runs and 8 RBI. The biggest hit was his last of the week. With the Myers Park game tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the 7th, Kimbrell hit a 3-run homerun to walk it off.
Along with his prowess at the plate, Kimbrell had 2 appearances on the mound, with one start. He worked 6 innings, picking up 2 wins, giving up 5 hits and 2 unearned runs while striking out 5.
